Welcome to my lens on being on exploring a spiritual path. I come from a science background and have never been religious or that spiritual, Tho during my childhood, I attended church, which I have done recently too on/off. Over the last few years I have been becoming more spiritual, Tho I don't follow any particular faith, I have been reading more about philosophy, Buddhism, Lao Tzs, Confucianism, I Ching and exploring my inner self, with interests ranging from Tarot cards, Channeling and Yoga.

The subject of Non Duality has even intrigued me, which seems to bring all these interest together.

However it was not till I had an profound spiritual experience at a workshop about Intuition and Integrated Intelligence that I wanted to explore spirituality further. Thats when I also came across the works of Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung and Jiddu Krishnamurti.

These great thinkers, resonated with me as they didn't really have a particular faith or religion but something of their own, Their own path and allowed myself to integrate all that I have read and continues to help my understanding of ones own reality or world.

Here in this lens I wanted to share my interesting experience at the workshop and an area called Intuitions & Integrated Intelligence. It was during my travels, that I attended a workshop by Dr Marcus T Anthony, At the time I didn't know what Integrated Intelligence was but I was curious and wanted to know more about the idea of tapping in to your own intuition.

So I booked myself for one of the workshops and even got a copy of the Marcus's book " Sage of Synchronicity" and autographed too. Its a very funny book actually, as most "Aussie" (Australians) tend to be.

As defined by Marcus Anthony Integrated Intelligence is:

"The ability to draw on the extended mind and all its intuitive capacities to function successfully and solve problems in your life".

The extended mind, in turn, is:

"Consciousness that extends beyond the individual's brain, and connects us with spiritual realms".

Simply put, Integrated Intelligence is using all the abilities of the mind, including the psychic, to live the life you want. This also includes the rational functions of the mind, because both the intuitive and the rational have their valid functions.

So at the workshop, which was held in a relativity large room in the basement of a university building, the lighting was dim but provided the right atmosphere for some of the experiential exercises that was installed for us.

There was about six of us sitting in a small circle, with Marcus introducing himself at the front and handing out notes, we all introduced ourselves to each other before starting. At first Marcus gave an overview of the workshop, which was followed by range of individual exercises, such as meditation techniques and channeling.

we proceeded with a introduction to the technique, practice and discussion, because the group was small it became quite intermate with more conversations. We continued through each exercises but what was interesting and what surprised me was the final group exercise that we tried, that brought everything we learnt home. The group formed a small circle and we paired off facing each other, and closed our eyes in a attempt to read our partners energy or picture thoughts or feeling coming from them. We would do this with one partner and rotate around the group.

The exercise required us to used all the techniques we gained during the workshop but I was awful at it, not really picking up much. However it was what my partner said to me which amazed me, individuality they didn't mean much but after we had gone around the circle the individual thoughts or energy my partners described all sent me a personal message. It was like I just experienced some kind of "synchronicity" So once the exercise was finished we regroups and did a review, so I mentioned my experience. A few others also had similar experiences, one was very emotional too.

So after that workshop and my experience I realised that I am on this path of discovery and started to explore more. I even discovered that it was Carl Jung who first coined the phase "Synchronicity"

If you ever get a chance, I do recommend attending similar workshops. now I have another body of work to start exploring, around transformation of the mind, a deeper understanding of ourself to better the future.

A question that comes to mind when reading about spirituality for me is, Why do some people go on this path and other not, or are we all at different stage and destined to travel this road eventuality?

For all the new comers, I hope you enjoy the authors I suggested, my favorite would be Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung especially his interest in dreams and symbols, which I also have a deep interest in. Another author is Erkhart Tolle, has been suggested to me too.

"There is more to the future than flying cars and a faster internet. At the heart of the future lies the soul of humanity." This sentence encapsulates the thinking of one of the few genuine futurists in the East Asia region. However, Australian-born Dr. Anthony is rather unusual in the Futures Studies field. While most futurists focus upon economics and technological innovation, the Hong Kong based writer and philosopher extends his thinking to far more profound realms.

Beginning from the mid 1990s, Dr. Anthony began to explore visionary worlds through contemplation, deep meditation, and emotional healing. He traveled to many parts of the world, seeking the wisdom and guidance of gifted spiritual teachers. While living in New Zealand from 1996-1999, he engaged in an intensive programme of spiritual exploration with a group of committed spiritual seekers. By the time he had left New Zealand for Taiwan, he had developed an ability to perceive and understand human consciousness at an extraordinarily deep level. This included the capacity to sense the thoughts and emotional energies of others, and to communicate with spiritual realms. Subsequently, he set about formally studying the frontiers of human intelligence, enrolling in a doctoral programme at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. During his doctoral candidature, he applied his natural intuitive gifts to develop a unique method of study, Integrated Inquiry.

In recent years Dr. Anthony has become a prolific writer. He has published the academic book Integrated Intelligence, and the more layman-friendly Discover Your Soul Template, as well as Extraordinary Mind. He has penned scores of academic articles, and numerous internet features.

Dr. Anthony is the Director of MindFutures, an organisation with the prime goal of bringing greater balance to discussions, analyses and visions of the future; broadening financial and technologically-dominated discourses with a consideration for deeper philosophical, psychological, and spiritual perspectives.

Dr. Anthony is an elected member of the World Futures Studies Federation, and the Darwin Project Council - a think-tank comprising many leading futurists, academics, philosophers and scientists, including triune brain theorist Paul Maclean, psychologist Mihalyi Czikszentmihalyi, systems theorist Ervin Laszlo, and feminist Rianne Eisler.

Dr. Anthony has lived and worked in East Asia for a decade. This includes Taiwan, mainland China (Beijing and Sichuan), and seven years in Hong Kong. He is a proficient speaker of Mandarin Chinese, and can amuse Hong Kongers with his essential Cantonese. He now lives in Hong Kong.

Intuitive Analysis and Counselling

For individual who wish to learn more about Integrated Intelligence first hand, and experience there own awakening, Marcus also offers personal consultations and group workshops. He works with individuals, couples, and organizations to teach people how to find empowerment, and their soul purpose, using Integrated Intelligence. He does this by teaching people how to use the INI tools.

Sessions are available in person, by phone, or via the Internet and public talks and workshops.

Follow Your Bliss

Joseph John Campbell (1904 - 1987) was an American mythologist and a scholar, best known for his work in comparative mythology and religion. His work covers vast aspects of the human experience including the Arts, literature and philosophy.

In 1924 Campbell also meet Jiddu Krishnamurti, while travelling back on a ship from Europe. There they discussed Asian philosophy, sparking Campbell's life-long interest in Hindu and Indian thought. Following his encounter with Krishnamurti, Campbell ceased to be a practising Catholic but instead developing his own beliefs.

Campbell's developed the term "monomyth", or "the hero's journey", referring to a basic pattern found in many myth and religion from around the world and tried to demonstrate similarities between Eastern and Western religions in The Hero with a Thousand Faces. His own philosophy to life was simple and can often be summarised by his phrase: "Follow your bliss."

Campbell's studies also led to his greater exploration of the ideas developed by Carl Jung.

Later it was the Joseph Campbell's idea's of a "Monomyth" that influence filmmaker George Lucas in writing the StarWars trilogy.

A great place to start to know Joesph Campbell's work it "The Power of Myth", Mythos which is narrated by Susan Sarandon is also great however if Joesph idea don't interest you, The series is quite long. The Hero's Journey is also one of his best too.

Carl Gustav Jung (1875 - 1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist, an influential thinker and the founder of Analytical Psychology often called “Jungian” Psychology. He was considered the first modern psychiatrist to view the human psyche as "by nature religious" and make it the focus of exploration.

In addition to being a practising clinician he devoted much of his life exploring areas of Eastern & Western philosophy, alchemy, astrology, sociology, as well as literature and the arts. All of which influencing his ideas on symbols and processes of the human psyche, found in dreams and other entries to the unconscious.

Carl Jung pioneered psychological concepts such as the Archetype, the Collective Unconscious, the Complex, and synchronicity. He was also one of the best known pioneers in the field of dream analysis.

The popular psychometric test, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) was developed from Jung's theories.

Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895 - 1986) was a writer and a speaker on philosophical & spiritual issues including the nature of the mind, human relationships and bringing about positive social change.

During his youth, Krishnamurti lived next to the Theosophical Society Headquarters in Madras, were he was subsequently raised under the tutelage of the leaders, Who believed him to be the vehicle for a messianic entity, the World Teacher. But later as a young man, he disavowed this idea and dissolved the worldwide organisation (the Order of the Star) established to support him.

Instead he believed in the need for a revolution in the psyche of every human being and that such revolution cannot be brought about by any external entity, be it religious, political, or social. Krishnamurti denounced the concept of saviors & spiritual leaders and urged people to directly discover the underlying causes of the problems facing individuals and society. He declared allegiance to no nationality, caste, religion or philosophy, and spent the rest of his life travelling the world as an independent speaker.

Marcus meets best selling author Anita Moorjani

Just the other day i was reading Marcus's blog 22C+ where he was sharing his experience and meeting with Anita Moorjani, Author of the best selling book "Dying to be Me" which is about her miraculous recovery from cancer.

In his blog post Marcus share his encounter with Anita and the synchronicity that lead to the event, I found the story so inspirational and worth adding to my lens.
