NFL post season - "My Predictions"

My Predictions for the Wild card games!

My predictions for this upcoming year's NFL post season games are really very simple. The Cincinnati Bengals will crush the Houston Texans in the first AFC wild card game. Followed by a similar action the very next day in the second AFC wild card game. Only this time the Pittsburgh Steelers defense will punch a big hole right through the Denver Broncos offensive line (who have now lost 3 in a row), and will become the victors. On the NFC side the New Orleans Saints will pull off a narrow victory, in front of a very happy home crowd against the stubborn Detroit lions. In the other NFC wild card game the New York Giants will hand the Atlanta Falcons an old fashion whopping.

My predictions for the divisional play off games.

In the AFC the Baltimore Ravens, who won every single one of their divisional games this season will smash the Cincinnati Bengals for the third straight time this year. Further up North the Pittsburgh Steelers will at the last minute beat the New England Patriots in front of a stunned crowd, in some very cold temperatures. On the NFC side the Green Bay Packers will shut down the New York Giants in a very low scoring game. for the final NFC divisional game the San Francisco 49ers will just plain wear down the New Orleans Saints in a dog fight of a game.

My predictions for the conference championship games!

The AFC Baltimore Ravens who won by four touchdowns in their first meeting this year, will for the 3rd straight time this season pull off a close win against an injured Pittsburgh Steeler team. The NFC will see the defending world champion Green Bay Packers lose to a much faster San Francisco 49er team. Thus setting up the scene for Super Bowl XLVI !!

My predictions for Super Bowl XLVI !

There's only one possible outcome for Super Bowl XLVI, and nobody could possibly even think about Denying this result. My prediction for Super Bowl XLVI is - The Baltimore Ravens will repeat their earlier win this season against the San Fransisco 49ers with a 16 to 6 win!!! And you can take that prediction to the bank!!!

The Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens!

Some simple facts - Over the past four seasons, the Baltimore Ravens are the only team to earn four consecutive playoff berths, and they are the only NFL team to win at least one playoff game in each of the past four seasons. In their last meeting the Baltimore Ravens beat New England, 33-14, serving the Patriots their first home playoff defeat since back in the the year 1978. It's the Baltimore Ravens time to shine!

New England Patriots - 17
New York Giants - 21

Which of these two teams do you think will win Super Bowl XLVI?

(Poll closes at the start of the Super Bowl)

  • 50% New England Patriots
  • 50% New York Giants
46 people have voted in this poll.

This poll is now closed to voting.

This poll was started at the end of the very last playoff game, and ended prior to the start of the Super Bowl. What was most interesting about this poll was that both Super Bowl XLVI teams were favored equally at 50/50 prior to the start of the big game on February 5th 2012.

Who do you think will win Super Bowl XLVI ?

You Decide ?

  • 16% Baltimore Ravens
  • 7% San Fransisco 49ers
  • 8% Pittsburgh Steelers
  • 2% Atlanta Falcons
  • 5% Houston Texans
  • 22% Green Bay Packers
  • 1% Cincinnati Bengals
  • 15% New England Patriots
  • 1% Detroit Lions
  • 5% Denver Broncos
  • 8% New Orleans Saints
  • 11% New York Giants
133 people have voted in this poll.

This poll is now closed to voting.

This poll was started prior to the first game of the playoffs being played. What was interesting about this poll was that Green Bay was the most favored team out of all 12 of the playoff teams, and they failed to win ONE playoff game. Another interesting thing which I noticed was that the Cincinnati Bengals who were at 0% finally got a vote way after they were eliminated from the playoffs. Now that was one die hard fan!

I don't think the Lions will catch up with the Saints by scoring so much points, the Texans will come up victorious just by running the ball, and the Falcons will defeat the Giants.

I think the Patriots and the Packers will go to the Super Bowl. The Patriots have Tom Brady to help them come from behind if their defense plays poorly.

My heart wants the Saints to win their 2nd Super Bowl. It will be nice if they defeat the 49ers and the Packers on the road.

I highly doubt that the giants will beat the falcons and I would find a 49ers/ravens Super Bowl to be a snooze fest

A snooze fest, Someone must have missed the first game in which two brotherly coaches had there back yard brawl on an NFL football field. Dream on gentlemen.

Well, I agree with most of your predictions....But I believe the Packers will blow out the Giants and the Saints will beat the 49ers very bad.... then the Saints will lose to the Packers in the NFC championship game. The Patriots will beat the Steelers and the Ravens will beat the Patriots in a low scoring game. Finally, the Packers will win back to back Super Bowls!!

The Steelers, while banged up are mostly banged up on offense and fortunately, they won't need a ton of offense this week against Denver and they contain Tebow and the running game and beat Denver down 24-13 ... Cincy vs. Houston is an easy call as well; Houston -home crowd with their first playoff game, sheer emotion will literally provide them the will to win, especially as they will pound the ball on the ground and wear Cincy down, 24-16.

In the NFC, the Saints and Lions, while everyone is expecting a track meet, these teams just met and it wasn't a track meet then, so I'm at a loss as to how it will be now or what changed in a matter of weeks. Nobody -not even the Packers or the Pats are playing as well as the Saints right now, they run away and hide from Detroit (mind you, they remember last years letdown in the first round), 35-17. The Giants are almost scary. This team reminds me a little of the team that barely got in and ended up beating the undefeated Pats in the Super Bowl. The Falcons closed strong, but it was against Tampa, so no big kudos there. The Giants play mistake free on the road and upset Atlanta, 28-24.

See ya next week after the outcomes ...

Yesterdays game doesn't affect tomorrow's outcome. I am a kook. I grew up i St. Petersburg, so we are Buc's fans. If Josh Freeman follows tradition, he will go to another team and win the Super Bowl his first year there. I miss Warren Sap, but we all get older.

I think Atlanta will be the sneaker team and take it all the way. Hey, I'm a Florida fan. You can't count out Tebow. He knows how to win, and linemen love to block for him.

How about the College National Championships. I say it will be an SEC team.

Caleb Roberts 4 years ago

Okay. Green bay packers are one of the best teams right now, but seeing they lost two of their "strong" offensives linemens i don't think they can go all the way. Its going to come down to the saints and packers in the NFC championship and the saints are most likely to win. In the AFC, its gonna be the Patriots and the Settlers. I mean, look at the Patriots they have the most experience in the playoffs! Nobody is even mentioning them! And yet their 11-3!!! I hate the patriots, but come on now, their most likely to go to the super bowl. My prediction is the it will tlbe the Saints and Patriots in the super bowl. And that will be a great game.

I would like to interject now as the wild card weekend finally comes to a close. My predictions still hold true with a 50% winning ratio. Even with the Bengal & Steeler losses, all of my predictions are still on track. The biggest difference is that the Baltimore Ravens will now just have to pound a win out of the Houston Texans. That shouldn't be that big of a deal since the Ray Lewis & the Baltimore Ravens beat Houston by over 2 touchdowns earlier this season with a score of 29-14! Keep on coming back for more fun as the post season moves onward, and I would like to thank to everyone who has so far participated & voted in the football poll above. It's still not too late to cast your vote, but remember we're all on the honor system here, so please only cast ONE vote. I also want to congratulate Storytellersrus on her Bronco win, and best of luck to you & all of your kids in New England! And yes gregas I think the Denver Broncos shocked everyone, especially since only 8% of those that voted in the football poll above picked them. I bet you that number will start to increase now!

Upsets already. I believe after seeing the Broncos this weekend, they will go further than anticipated (they already have). Tebow is throwing the long ball and with good accuracy, making him and the Broncos more difficult to formulate a defensive scheme for. In the end though, I think it will be the Saints and the Packers, with Saints coming out on top.

Goody5 profile image

Goody5 4 years ago from Bohville, USA, Just below the Mason-Dixon line in the land of the pleasant living Author

Thanks for stopping by so quickly cclitgirl, but you better hope that they don't have to face the Ravens in Baltimore. And mquee they really were a shoe in against those injured Steelers. Well...looks like everyone is picking the Ravens. Interesting...Since I am a Houston Texan Fan! The Texans have done well this season...and the upcoming play-off game against the Ravens is for all the marbles. I choose my team...if we can pull off some great offense on the ground...or in the air (with our fantastic rookie QB)...and throw the Ravens off their game...while they are at home...where they tend to dominate. The defenses will go head to head because of their high rankings. Looks like an uphill battle for Houston...and we down here Houston...wouldn't have it any other way. That's just our History...Go Texans!

Thanks Tonipet for the recipe, and the vote of confidence for the Baltimore Ravens. Need I remind you manlypoetryman That the Houston Texans are 0-5 against the Ravens, and have never ever beaten them as of this date. They also played earlier this season, and the Baltimore Ravens won by more then two touchdowns. Also pay attention to the opening moments of the game, I certainly wouldn't want to be an opposing team in that stadium on that day!

Hey Thomas is from UCF. Go Florida!

I am a die hard Saints fan myself! Go SAINTS!!! I am hoping they manage to do what they did in '09 and bring home a win! Am I worried about the 49ers defense-be a fool not to be...but I am trusting the Saints offense to march on! Either way, I'll be watching. Hell, it's football and as an avid NFL fan, any game is a must see for me! Great hub!

CookwareBliss, you and 25% of those who voted above in the football poll favored a Packer win, so maybe you all know something that others don't. I'm however going to stick with the 18% of the people who voted for the Baltimore Ravens! Good luck WD Curry 111, because I would love to see your Denver Broncos visit Charm city to play the Baltimore Ravens on the road to the Super Bowl, and raquelpier those 49ers may just be a little bit too much for your Saints. We'll just have to see with the weekend games now upon us now.

Sooner28 4 years ago

I actually agreed with your wild card picks pre-kick off to the wild card games. I'm glad someone else was as wrong as I was, especially about the Denver Broncos. Go Tebow!

Goody5 profile image

Goody5 4 years ago from Bohville, USA, Just below the Mason-Dixon line in the land of the pleasant living Author

Thank you Sooner28, but looking back at it now I regret the Cincinnati pick. I guess I should off known better, especially since the Bengals got 0% of the votes in the above football pole. The Steelers playing with all of their injuries in the mile high thin air wasn't the way to go either. But the past is over, and Mr.Tebow better hope that he doesn't have to face Ray Lewis & company in the purple jungle.

Thanks Steve, and the Baltimore Ravens were the wisest choice you could of made. That big game is tomorrow against the Texans.

@ Steve Lensman. That's okay Steve, it is just an excuse to eat snacks and drink beer.

If you want to fit in, just remember what color your team is wearing. If they catch the ball, or run across a yellow line say "Yes!" real loud. If they cross the line line at the end of the field, jump up, yell, "In your face!" and start fist pumping or doing a happy dance.

Now you are a football fan.

PS - if in doubt, hesitate. If the people rooting for the other team start cheering. Curse under your breath.

I had to go for the New Orleans Saints, can't get much football coverage in Ireland, I love watching the Saints play, especially at home, they make football exciting, some matches just make me fall asleep, I want to see the Saints win just because of their flair.

Thanks for your vote Adrian, and we'll know very soon if the Saints can past the 49ers since they play today.

Goody5 profile image

Goody5 4 years ago from Bohville, USA, Just below the Mason-Dixon line in the land of the pleasant living Author

I'd like to interject once again now that the divisional playoffs are at the halfway point this weekend. With the San Fransisco 49ers amazing game winning finish over the Saints, sorry about that Adrian, my predictions remain 50% accurate with the 49ers still poised to go to the super bowl. Tomorrow's games will be the decisive point, with the well rested Baltimore Ravens at home going to battle with the Houston Texans, as well as the N.Y. Giants & Green Bay game.

49ers pulled it off. But the Broncos aren't looking good right now!

The 49ers pulled it off just as I said they would Sooner28, but the broncos just need to get on the bus now at halftime & save some face. Wow it's 35-7 and the games only at the halfway point!!!!!

Thanks jeyaramd, but I do regret some of my earlier picks. jeyaramd & Sooner28, "Oh dear" and "pathetic" don't even begin to describe how hard it was to even try to watch the 2nd half of that game. A high school team could have done a better job. The Patriots broke at least 5 post season records.

I have to say... my Heart is just NOT in it. I'm a big time football fan. But when your team is messed up for so many years - it just sucks! There is only one team for me, but we have to wait for them to Become a team again. We need a new quarterback, a new head coach and, I guess it's not gonna happen without a new owner.

Anyone care to guess who I'm talking about?

Goody5 profile image

Well KT since you're from Texas, I guess you're talking about the Cowboys. And if I'm correct don't get too upset tomorrow when Ray Lewis & the Baltimore Ravens send the other Texas team on back to Texas empty handed.

"THEN THERE WERE FOUR", With the divisional playoffs now behind us, my predictions hold true at 50%. The Baltimore Ravens are still poised to meet up with the San Francisco 49ers in super bowl XLVI, which remains in line with my ultimate overall prediction. I'm sure any doubters out there have since raised their eyebrows as 28 other NFL teams are sitting at home now. Now onto the winning locker room speech from Baltimore Raven's coach John Harbaugh - "Nobody holds onto a 4 point lead in this league, except this team."

Kathleen Kerswig 4 years ago

I'm thinking it is going to be the Giants against the Patriots and the Giants will prevail again. At least that's how I have the script written in my head.

Goody5 profile image

Goody5 4 years ago from Bohville, USA, Just below the Mason-Dixon line in the land of the pleasant living Author

Okay Kathleen, but the Patriots aren't going up against some high school team from Denver with an 8-8 record this time. I'd like to point out that the last time the Baltimore Ravens and the Patriots met in a playoff game, that the Ravens won 33-14. Need I say anymore.

Goody5 ... you got me. I thought the Packers were going to go a-l-l t-h-e w-a-y! I don't want to make excuses, but I think it was that State Farm "discount double check" commercial ...

All kidding aside, it looks like the Pats vs 49'ers in the Super Bowl. Sorry, don't think the Ravens have a chance against the Pats. ;-)

Goody5 profile image

I know exactly how you feel mandyf, that's why I'm sticking like glue to my beloved Baltimore Ravens. And Storytellersrus I can't change the football poll without deleting everything on it, so go on ahead and vote for your Patriots. They are only at 11%, and they could use all of the help that they can get.

Storytellersrus profile image

Storytellersrus 4 years ago from Stepping past clutter

Sorry, Goody5, didn't know you were for the Ravens. I hadn't really read all the comments. But I will vote up the Pats!

Here's a thought- you could do a new poll with the current roster and let folk vote fresh. That would bring more traffic and make it even more fun!

Goody5 profile image

Goody5 4 years ago from Bohville, USA, Just below the Mason-Dixon line in the land of the pleasant living Author

Actually Storytellersrus, I have already thought about doing another poll, but I was planning on waiting until next weekend when there were just the two super bowl teams left. This way I thought everyone would have two weeks to vote for a winner. What do you think?

I'm glad I have you as another partner ePetNation, when it comes to the Baltimore Ravens winning! Now I'll admit that the New York Giants have been looking real tough lately, which has held strong ever since their last regular season "winner take all" game with the Dallas Cowboys, so we'll all just have to wait & see what unfolds three days from now.

Goody5 profile image

Goody5 4 years ago from Bohville, USA, Just below the Mason-Dixon line in the land of the pleasant living Author

With the Conference Championship weekend now upon us, I'd like to break down the above NFL football poll. With 124 votes in now, the Baltimore Ravens are coming in strong with 16% of the votes, verses New England's 12%. The New York Giants hold a whopping 11% of the votes, verses the 49ers 7%. I'd like to thank everyone who has voted in the poll, and now the biggest thing left to do is to keep the Baltimore Raven's Quarterback off of a child's skateboard until this football season is complete!

Fullerman5000 - I am glad to see someone else wanting to see a Baltimore Raven & 49er super bowl. The Ravens have been in every single playoff berth for the past 4 years, and they are due. If these two teams do successfully make it, then everyone needs to be prepared for all of the "Brotherly Coach" hype that the media will be spilling out to us, all over the television, radio, internet, and newspapers.

They are 1)The Baltimore Ravens vs. The 49ers. 2)The Baltimore Ravens vs. The New York Giants. 3)The New York Giants vs. the Patriots. & 4) The Patriots vs. the 49ers. I'm sure by now everyone out there that has visited this hub knows where I stand!

That's fine Daytona, but as a true Baltimore Ravens fan It's my duty to cheer on Ray Lewis & company. You see, not only were me & my little sister born in the same hospital (Church Home) as Edgar Allen Poe died in, but in the same room as well. With the Baltimore Ravens being named after one of his most famous poems, it's in our blood.
