2013/14 Home Kit (Confirmed)

New Kit Released

Liverpool have unveiled their home kit for the 2013/2014 season and are already looking to the future, they have dubbed the launch as #Riseup and there is an optomism that they will once again rise up as a Football club, out of the coffins which they have been dormantly sleeping within the past few years. Club favorites Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard and new boy Daniel Sturridge head the PR campaign, in a kit which draws inspiration from the kit of 1984 for the sleeves, a year in which Liverpool won their 4th Champions league medal, perhaps as a reminder to bitter rivals Manchester United who remain on 3 Champions league medals.

Tribute is also given to the 96 fans who lost their lives at Hilsborough, which remains a fitting tribute.

Interestingly Luis Suarez heads the campaign, the club will have no doubt have discussed the decision at length, given the recent bad PR which has come from him but have gone ahead and kept him as a spearhead of the advertising, as he remains such a popular and influential character at the club.

Sturridge is now officially a Liverpool Red!

Hardly a shock transfer or a secret one, Sturridge has been surplus to requirements at Chelsea ever since AVB left. Its a great signing for Liverpool, in the sense that they need another forward player to take some of the load of off Luis Suarez and provide cover incase he becomes injured, some fans are however questioning whether he is worth £12,000,000 but when they paid 35 and 20 mil for the likes of Andy Carroll and Downing respectively...

"I've signed to be here for as long as possible. It's a humongous club - for me, one of the biggest in the world - and to have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing."

Retweeted Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker):

If Daniel Sturridge becomes the player he thinks he is, he could be one hell of a signing for Liverpool.

The Reds draw with Young Boys Bern in the Europa League

Liverpool may well feel disappointed not to get the 3 points, as they squandered the lead on two separate occasions. Jonjo Shelvey opened the scoring, after Joe Cole did well to lay it on a plate taking the ball to the byline following a nice 1-2 with Suso and dinking a cross in, which Shelvey simply couldn't miss.

They were then pegged back at the end of the half by a good goal from Young Boys tank of a No.9 and the teams went in level at the break.

Liverpool played well in the second half and fans would be forgiven in thinking that the introduction of both big guns Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez, would ensure that they could put the game to bed.

Joe Cole made and an intelligent run into the Young Boys area and was equally intelligently met by a Steven Gerrard Pass and finished cooly.

Joe Cole involved in both goals

ex Chelsea man Joe Cole has not received much love from the Liverpool fans and Managers since making the free transfer from Stamford Bridge to the Kop.

The ex England man had a terrible first few games for the club, failing to score and getting himself sent off and was part of a whole team, which was rapidly crumbling and in freefall down the table.
As with a few players from that squad, Joe Cole took some of the blame and it would be difficult for him to reverse opinions on him.

A successful loan spell in France for French outfit Lille, showed that the ex England Star still had something to offer, terrorising defences along with Eden Hazard.

However since returning to Liverpool, his performances have been once again unconvincing and frustrating, for a player who at the age of 16 was hailed as the next biggest thing in Football, in his days for West Ham.

Tonight vs Young Boys however, may mark the start of his comeback, he played a heavy role in the first goal getting an assist and did well to take the second, getting a much needed goal for his confidence.

Does he deserve to start for Liverpool in the coming weeks?
