Week 8 Power Rankings

Updated on October 25, 2011

We saw a number of upsets this weekend, ending with the Ravens getting beat by the Jaguars on Monday Night Football. We watched the Colts give up 62 points on prime time TV to the Saints, and saw the Packers get tested in Minnesota, only to prevail at the end.

There is so much parody in the league this year its hard to rank the teams, but after researching their play thus far combined with their record and remaining schedule, I've listed the teams one through thirty-two. And here they are:

Week 8 Power Rankings

Green Bay Packers
7-0
This team is on the brink of getting beat. It's going to happen eventually, but who will be the team to take them down?
New England Patriots
5-1
Even with a poor defense this team still finds a way to get it done under Belichick
New Orleans Saints
5-2
Granted, they were playing the Indianapolis Colts, but to put up 62 points is pretty impressive under any circumstance.
New York Giants
4-2
The Giants are going to have some players coming back from injury so I only see this team getting better. Let's hope they don't have a second half let down like usual.
San Francisco 49ers
5-1
The 49ers have shown they can beat legitmate teams and coming off a bye week they should be ready to take the division heading into mid season
Houston Texans
4-3
There is so much parody in the NFL this year it's tough to rank teams starting at this pick. Houston is coming off an impressive win over rival Tennessee, and look to have the division in hand.
Pittsburgh Steelers
5-2
This team is starting to put it together and after watching the Ravens last night, they may be the front runners to win the division again.
Buffalo Bills
4-2
The Bills can score points with anyone but the defense gives up too many points and unless they can take the ball away, they will continue to lose more games.
Detroit Lions
5-2
The Lions are coming off two straight home losses, which is tough, because their schedule doesn't get any easier going forward. The lack of a running game is killing this team and unless they can get it together quick, it's going to turn into a long season.
Atlanta Falcons
4-3
The Falcons beat the Lions and are on a streak here, but losing to the Buccaneers keeps them down the list a little.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
4-3
You never know what you're going to get with this team, they could be higher or lower on this list. I see them dropping off with no running backs healthy anymore.
New York Jets
4-3
Back to back wins has this team back on the winning track and trying to play catch up with New England and Buffalo.
Baltimore Ravens
4-2
After a lack luster performance last night, I'm wondering if the inconsistent Flaaco is capable of leading this team to the promise land. The defense is getting old so it's now or never.
San Diego Chargers
4-2
I wasn't a believer in this team going into the weekend, and I'm certainly not after them falling to the Jets.
Cincinnati Bengals
4-2
Suprisingly the Bengals are 4-2 and coming off a bye week they should be rested and ready to go.
Chicago Bears
4-3
The Bears are slowly coming back and working their way into the mix of playoff talks midway through the season. They still have a long way to go.
Oakland Raiders
4-3
What a disappointing performance last weekend, but heading into a bye and getting Palmer acclimated into the offense should help this team.
Kansas City Chiefs
3-3
All of a sudden a team that looked like they couldn't win a game is sitting at .500 Look for them to play an upset roll cause I still don't think they have enough to take the division this year over the two teams ahead of them.
Dallas Cowboys
3-3
A running game is finally rearing it's head in Dallas and making this team a bigger threat in the NFC
Philadelphia Eagles
2-4
The Eagles are finally coming off a victory, as well as a bye week so they should be ready to turn things around.
Jacksonville Jaguars
2-5
After looking extremely impressive defensively last night against the Ravens their is some hope, but only some because they can't score points.
Minnesota Vikings
1-6
Probably the best one win team, they played the Packers tough under rookie QB Christian Ponder. Optimism exists in Minnesota again.
Carolina Panthers
2-5
After 7 games it looks like Cam is going to be the real deal. This team will continue to get better.
Tennessee Titans
3-3
Chris Johnson apparently needs to look in the mirror after a horrible start to the 2011 season where he held out of the preseason and training camp for a new contract. Earn that money!
Washington Redskins
3-3
Why do I have a 1-6 Vikings team ahead of the Skins? Because they don't know who they are. Issues at QB and now multiple injuries at key positions has this team going no where.
Cleveland Browns
3-3
7th ranked defense in the NFL but one of the worst offenses in the league. Unless they can get something going they will be in for a long stretch playing the Steelers and Ravens each twice still.
Denver Broncos
2-4
Tebow time. I'm not as excited or optimistic about their chances moving forward. Tebow is not a QB, but he has heart and is a great athlete, which will not win too many games at this level.
Seattle Seahawks
2-4
Putting up three points against the Browns shows me this team has no offense. You can't rely on one player (Lynch) like the commentators were stating during the entire game.
Arizona Cardinals
1-5
Beanie Wells can't stay on the field which means doom for this team with no running game.
St. Louis Rams
0-6
This team is bad at all phases of the game and may get rid of their coach before the year is over.
Indianapolis Colts
0-7
Devasting thumping to the Saints has this team pointing fingers, but you can only point to one person in my opinion, Jim Caldwell. Time to cut him loose.
Miami Dolphins
0-6
They almost got their first win but letting Tebow come back from 15 down with four minutes left makes it easy to put them under the Colts on this list.
