The changing of the guards is now in the offing as fading stars of the yesteryears fast approaching their peak and in the verge of passing the torch. Father time is fast reaching up on Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal , Steve Nash, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Jason Kidd, Kevin Garnett, Chauncey Billups, Ben Wallace and Ray Allen. Allen Iverson, Grant Hill, Vince Carter, Elton Brand, Stephon Marbury, Gilbert Arenas and the list goes on are no longer performing above their norm.

The cycle of life in basketball is indeed rolling relentlessly and it comes to fore in the on-going 2011 NBA Playoffs, where the beast of the east which is Miami Heat and the best of the west which is the Dallas Mavericks are locked in a tight battle in the NBA Championships.

There are several names that are recently stepping up to fill the huge void left by fading stars of the game. The names that certainly ring the bell are LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and Mario Chalmers of the Miami Heat, and Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion, Brendan Haywood and Caron Butler of the Dallas Mavericks. Then there is Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls and Zach Randolph of the Memphis Grizzlies. By the way the Grizzlies just made an eminent feat as they become the only 8th-seeded team in the league’s history to oust a top seeded team in the first round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs at the expense of disgruntled San Antonio Spurs.

The Miami Heat which made great noise in the preseason by acquiring Chris Bosh from the Toronto Raptors and LeBron James from the Cleveland Cavaliers, to beef up an already formidable team which already has Dwayne in the lineup. And after the demise of the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant in the second round of the playoffs all eyes are on LeBron James and his Heat.

Thunderous and Creative Dunks – With his nice frame, athleticism and great leaping ability there is no doubt that LeBron James sports the most explosive and well-liked dunks in the league. During transition plays and in a traffic in the painted area, James is very capable of shaking off this defenders for a breakaway dunk or simply settle for a “in your face” jams against the big men in the shaded lane to the delight of the fans and aficionados.

Versatility – So tall at 6-8, James can play the guard, shooting guard, small forward and power forward position with relative ease. James is at its finest playing “2” or “3” as he can easily exploit the weaknesses on his defenders. People love the way James is carrying out his daily chores in the wooden floor occupying different positions.

Great ball-handling ability - James is so big and nimble for his size, and his ability to handle the ball well is indeed spectacular.

Savvy moves – Night-in or night-out James is expected to pour all his all, including his variety of moves that leaves his opponents eating his dust for an electrifying dunks and mesmerizing lay-ups. He is also a threat outside since he can easily from open jump shots. A threat inside and outside, James is indeed a complete player and it is difficult to keep up with him all throughout a game. His savvy moves make him a heavy fan favorite and many of his fans even copy his moves.

A great team player – Although James has deep offensive arsenal as he is also very capable of making his teammates looks great on the court. James can dish out impressive assist on his teammates and invites them join in a feisty onslaught wreaking havoc on their opponents at the other end. Fans love James since he is not a selfish player like the other superstar in the league.

Great leader – James don’t only have enormous basketball talents on the wooden floor he is also endowed with nice attitude and great leadership skills. Although he is still young, James can rally his team to win as many games as they can and perform very well during the playoffs. He is aware that basketball is a team sport and motivating his teammates as well as making them feel they are important with his emphatic assists is very essential on his team’s campaign.
