World Cup Review,Brasil 2014.

Updated on February 22, 2015

Uruguay,1950 World champion in Brazil

World Cup,Brazil 2014.Who will be World Champion?

Brazil 2014,the world cup is only days away and all the commentators analysts and fans in general are forecasting or trying to foresee which team has the best chance to become world champions and join the short list of only eight countries that have ever won the world cup in almost a century of international football history. The list includes Uruguay ,which is a four time world champion, and a two time world cup champion in 1930 and 1950.Uruguay is officially recognized by FIFA as a four time world champion because the Olympic gold won in 1924 in Colombes, France and in 1928 in amsterdam,Holland were the first two football world championships before the world cup was established, therefore Uruguay has the right to wear four stars on its official shirt. Italy won the cup in 1934,1938,1982,and 2006.Germany won in 1954,1974,and 1990.Brasil has been the most dominant country being the only country that won the cup five times,in 1958,1962,1970,1994,and 2002.England won the world cup when it hosted the cup in 1966.Argentina won the world cup twice,in 1978 and 1986.France won the cup it hosted in 1998.And Spain is the current world champion having won the cup for the first time in South Africa in 2010.

One of the most thrilling games in world cup history.

The Select Few.

So even though my analysis is similar to that of most people in that everybody usually includes the historic factor in any team's probability of winning the world cup,it is different in the importance I adjudicate to the aforementioned factor since i believe it is one of the most important ,if not the most important of all.Not because of any mysterious or illogical reason, but because if a country is a member of the limited number of nations ever to have won a world cup it means football is of such great importance to that country and its people that they are probably giving birth to the best players in the world and are also constantly competing at such a high level of competition that they manage to remain in the international elite of the sport throughout the years and even decades as their game is constantly evolving and improving both at the national team and club competition.

Germany Qualifier

Germany was completely dominant in the World Cup qualifier winning 9 games only one draw and no losses.

The big favorite

I am not going out on a limb here to say that in my opinion Germany is the big favorite to win the world cup in Brazil 2014.They have the right players to execute the traditional German tactical figure and way of playing,a coach that knows what he wants from his players in Joachim Loew, and players that believe in performing the tasks required by their coach, along with some big names in European football like the veteran striker Miroslav Klose, Lukas Podolski, one of the best goalkeepers Manuel Neuer, the defense ,Jerome Boateng and the midfielder Marco Reus.

Neymar

Number 2 contender ,Brazil

Even though Brazil does not have the number of extraordinary players it has counted on in some previous tournaments,it does have in Neymar a prospect of someone with the potential to become a great player and in Hulk ,Fred and David Luiz some very talented and dangerous players,if we add the fact that it is the Organizer and we know that carries a lot of weight as history shows they are my second choice.

Spain could do it again.

I would put Spain in the third place, because it could possibly be the world champion since it maintains great part of the team that won the previous world cup in South Africa four years ago.The players are all outstanding and the coach Vicente del Bosque keeps the same football philosophy that won them the cup four years ago.The cons are that some of the players may have aged past their prime, and most teams know by know how to play against Spain, although even so that doesn't mean they will be able to defeat them.

Can Messi give Argentina the world cup?

In the fourth place I put Argentina because of mainly two reasons: First of all it has the deadliest forward of all teams with Khun Aguero, Lionel Messi ,Gonzalo Higuain, and Angel Di Maria. And second they have Lionel Messi who is disputing with Cristiano Ronaldo the position of the best football player of his generation ,which is not good enough for him because he wants to be recognized as one of the best players in history and reach the level only Pele and Maradona hold up to this point in history.Without being world champion he knows he wil never reach that level.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo could make the difference.

In the fifth spot I place Portugal.Because it is a team that has advanced greatly in the past decade and although it has never won a world cup it has an important world cup traditionand has obtained great success at the young player level .If I add to the mix the fact that it has Cristiano Ronaldo who is one of the two best players in the world right now,I have a contender.

Who will lift the Brasil 2014 World Cup?

Who do you think will win the 2014 ,Brasil World Cup

See results

Uruguay,England ,Italy,Netherland ,and Belgium

And then in the sixth place i put Uruguay,England,Italy, Netherland ,and Belgium.I consider all of these teams to have about the same chance of winning the cup and don't see a need to place them in any particular order.Uruguay would have to perform a miracle to be able to win the world cup.FIFA is big business and to that effect it would not be in the best economic interest of the powers that rule international football ,if Uruguay progresses far enough in the cup at some point it will have to overcome many obstacles besides the rivals on the field, I foresee several red cards and penalties against them. But it has done it before both at national and club level ,and if Suarez ,Cavani,Muslera,Gaston Ramirez Arevalo Rios are at the top of their game, who knows.England has in its favor a group of outstanding players that for the most part play in the most competitive league in Europe today.Italy is not considered a favorite for this coming world cup,but they have been ablo to win the world cup before in instances when they weren't favorite. Netherland came so close to become world champion before on occasions when it had arguably the best team both in the Johan Cruyff era and later with Van Basten ,and Ruud Gullit.Today the team does not have the super famous names but it could perform at a team level that given the right circumstances could take them to the final.Belgium is considered by many the dark horse in this race and I agree,if there is a team that never won the cup and could surprise the world of football Belgium is it.
