Detroit Tigers Pitchers and Catchers 2019

1.Jordan Zimmermann: It's been four seasons since Zimmermann was an All-Star with the Washington Nationals. The 32-year old right-hander has been slowed by right-side injuries so I'd look for Manager Ron Gardenhire to keep his innings below 190 on the season. It would also behoove Tigers fans to exhibit patience early on as Zimmermann works on his confidence in his body to hold up over the season.

2. Matthew Boyd: the 28-year old left-hander is off to a strong start in 2019. Once thought to be a back-end rotation option, Boyd is cementing his status as a projected ace.

3. Michael Fulmer: The big right-hander is shut down for 2019 after doctors have confirmed that the one-time projected ace will need Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. It's likely Fulmer will draw interest from other teams during this off season.

4. Matt Moore: The free-agent signee is lost for the season after right knee surgery.

5. Tyson Ross: Towering right-hander looks like a serviceable back end of rotation option in 2019.

6. Spencer Turnbull: The twenty-six year old right-hander looks like a typical young major league pitcher trying to find consistency and confidence. He throws hard, but he'll need to adjust to major league hitters who have already been sitting on his pitches in the heart of the zone.

Everyone in the Detroit Tigers baseball organization is outwardly settling in for another season of rebuild but inwardly projecting excitement at what new starting catcher Grayson Greiner is capable of and when the plethora of power arms down on the farm are going to be ready for the Show.
