39dollarglasses.com| Is It Worth Trying?

Updated on March 12, 2013

From The Beginning...

I have been in the market for a long, long time to get a new pair of updated glasses. After getting my eyes checked at the end of last year, I made sure to get a prescription for both contacts and glasses. I've been an avid wearer of contacts for awhile, but I need to stress how important it is to have both contacts and glasses (especially if you do wear contacts!).

At the end of last month, I finally ordered a pair of glasses from their website on 27th of February. It was exactly in the middle of the week since it was a Wednesday. I decided on a pair of glasses, filled out the information they requested about my prescription, put in my billing information, and then submitted it. I received an email stating the details of my order. They give you an order number that you can continually check on their website. A couple days later, they sent me an email reporting that my order was now being shipped, which I was impressed by that thoughtful touch. Within that same email, they gave me a link to track my order at USPS. Exactly a week later from the day I ordered it, I received my glasses in the mail.

THE RESULTS

This online optical company has left a good impression on me. I was very impressed by 39dollarglasses.com. Not only did I receive my glasses in a timely manner, they also had the consideration to help keep me updated with the status of my order through their website and then through the tracking information through USPS as I mentioned above.

Also, their website is designed to help a potential customer sort through their vast selection with ease. They offer a preference guide where you can click on the features you would like to have in your glasses. The features were blocked into seven sections:

  • Gender
  • Frame Material
  • Frame Color
  • Frame Shape
  • Total Frame Width
  • Temple (Arm) Length
  • Lens Type

When you click on a specific pair of glasses, they will pop up on separate page. This page is decked out with helpful information about the glasses you selected. It shows what colors it comes in and you can click on the different colors to see how they actually look. They also show three specific angles of the glasses as well (one frontal shot, one partial side shot, and one complete side shot). They also include the frame specification under Frame Sizing and it has a visual diagram of all the measurements. They also include product reviews as well as a feature where you can print the actual-size picture of the glasses.

However, as awesome as those features are, they also include a feature where you can upload your own picture to see how the glasses may fit on your face. If you do not have a picture to upload, they do have pictures preset of men and women with different face shapes that you can observe the pair of glasses on them. I didn't upload a picture, but I took my time looking through the preset pictures of the ladies to see how the glasses fit on their faces. I also observed the reviews to see how other customers responded to them. Sometimes, you can find a review that a pair of glasses seemed a lot bigger or a lot smaller than the actual picture.

Once you selected a pair of glasses, you will move unto the Step 2:SELECT LENS TYPE and then to STEP 3: CUSTOMIZE YOUR LENSES. Both steps obviously deal with your prescription and what you want to include in the make of your glasses. For example, I selected single-vision clear lens with Package TX - Clear Ultra-High index lenses with premium anti-glare coating. If I had chosen a different package, it may have come out either higher or lower in the total price.

39dollarglasses.com also offers prescription sunglasses, bifocal and progressive "no-line" bifocal glasses, and reading glasses. They can re-lens your own frame, but they currently offer it to only U.S. residents.

Do You Think You Will Try 39dollarglasses.com?

As I said above, their website is impressive. The overall cost of my glasses was $138.95. The frame cost $49 and it went up with everything I added on understandably. I could have got a package that reduced my overall cost I believe somewhere between $95-$100, but I needed the features in the package I selected.

The eyeglasses are stylish. I absolutely love the design and color. So far, they've been standing up to what I've thrown at them. However, I am taking better care of them though then I would've prior. It helps that they included some accessories to help store them more efficiently. Every night, I place my eyeglasses in the pouch and place them in the case instead of just carelessly just putting it down somewhere.

I've been wearing them since I received them in the mail last Wednesday. The first time I tried them on, I almost had a heart attack, because my prescription is so strong. The strength took me by surprise like a crazy 3D ride. I was like "Oh, no! How am I going to even wear these?!". Eventually, my eyes got used to it. Now, I am a proud owner of a new pair of eyeglasses that work for me.

Down the road, I'm going to purchase another pair of eyeglasses from this website for a backup pair. I am still planning on ordering contacts sooner rather than later to pair nicely with the eyeglasses. It's always good to have both if you do wear contacts. Even if you are an avid wearer of contacts, there are times when your eyes are strained by continual wear of contacts or lack of sleep. This is the perfect place to get them, because of their unique selection.

After ordering my first pair of eyeglasses with 39dollarglasses.com, they made a believer out of me that you can purchase eyeglasses online. You just need to do some research about the eyeglasses you're looking into. Also, if you don't happen to like them either, they do have a return policy so never fear.
