Care Free Instant Moisturizer Review

Welcome to my review on SoftSheen-Carson's Care Free Instant Moisturizer. I was browsing the shelves of my local Walgreen's ethnic hair care aisle and found this item. Finding myself still "in search" of the perfect hair care products for my now recent "natural" hairstyle choice,

Soft Sheen-Carson's Care Free Curl Instant Moisturizer states:  "Activates and moisturizes in one easy step. Restores curls, smooths hair and adds sheen while the silk moisturizers soften and help prevent breakage. Hair is left feeling silky.Non-greasy."

Product's Directions

Benefits From Usage of This Product

The product is advertised to:

  • Protect Hair From Dryness
  • Contains Glycerine and Proteins
  • Adds Strength and Shine to Damaged Hair
  • Does not leave a sticky build-up.

Care Free Curl Instant Moisturizer Curls says that "curls are built upon a delicate system of moisture balance in the hair. This balance must be maintained at all times to protect the hair from dryness and keep it curly."

My Experience with Care Free Curl Instant Moisturizer

Natural

I'm a "Wash and Go" natural (3 b/c) hair wearer.  So, I washed my hair, conditioned it, and then applied the Care Free Curl Instant Moisturizer product to my "wet," not damp hair.  I, personally, favor my hair to "air dry."  The product is in similar consistency to Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1.  I call these products "hair lotion."  To make sure the product is evenly massaged into hair, I squirt product into my hand and then massage into my tresses.

I quickly noticed that my hair began to curl up quickly and the curls were bountiful!  As my hair continued to dry the ends of my hair began to coil and my hair was soft, soft, soft!  Hair did have shine but not as much shine when I use my Eco Styler Olive Oil gel.

My hair is springy, soft, and very pliable.  I found the difference between using this product and gel is that the hair closest to the roots bushier/afro-like.  This, I feel happens because the product makes the hair so curly.  To combat this, I've thought of mixing/applying gel when I apply product on my wet/damp hair.  However, for the past couple of days I've been just using the Care Free Curl Instant Moisturizer on my hair.

S-Curl Wearers

This product is well-received by women/men who wear this style.  This product "activates" the curls while giving the much-needed moisture this style requires.

Relaxed Transistioners

I found that women who are relaxed hair wearers but are intent on transistioning to natural hair use the product to give the natural hair (new growth) the needed moisture.  Transistioners will also use this product for their transistion styles:  bantu knots, 2-strand twists, and other protective styles!

How Do I Rate This Product?

For the price, it gives you the bang for the buck.  I love the fact that it has glycerine and protein but most of all it is a water-based product.

Let me know what you think!
