Egg-Citing Beauty Recipes

Updated on July 22, 2010

Eggs.  We all have them in our refrigerator.  They are one of the most popular staple foods known to man.  It's used in drinks, main dish recipes, desserts.  Eggs are fried, boiled, poached, and cooked in a myriad of different ways.  Alone, or with other ingredients, they are simply one of the world's most perfect foods.  Aside from the banana of course, but that will be a whole other article.

Few people know the value of having eggs on hand for their beauty regimes though.  They can create shinier, better conditioned hair, help relief blemishes, erase a blotchy complexion, tighten pores, and so much more.  Here are some quick and easy egg beauty recipes for you to try:

Dermabrasion Treatment with Egg Skin

Inside of the egg, closely attached to the shell is a "skin".  This skin is created to keep the egg free of impurities.  It makes the perfect ingredient for you to remove the impurities of your own skin.  This is especially good for break-outs!

  • crack an egg, save the yolk and egg white for later.
  • Peel the skin away from the shell.
  • Apply skin to freshly washed face.  Either apply to your entire face or just to trouble areas.
  • Leave skins on face for twenty minutes
  • Remove the skins, discard and rinse face in cool water.
  • Apply an oil free moisturizer.

You'll be amazed at how effective this quick and inexpensive treatment is!

Egg and Honey Mask

This is the perfect mask to help combat dry climates or "winter skin".  It will tighten the pores, tone the skin, moisturize, soften, and treat blemishes!

You'll need:

  • One Tablespoon honey
  • One Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • One Egg

Mix ingredients and apply to freshly washed face.  Leave on for about twenty minutes and then rinse off in cool water.  Make sure and apply an oil free moisturizer or tinted moisturizer.

Time saving bonus for Egg Facial Masks:

Apply face masks when you are taking a bath.  Have a nice soak in the tub, shave, do what you need to do.  Then rinse off in the shower with the coolest water you are comfortable with.

Egg and Lemon Face Mask

This mask is perfect to help combat blotchy skin.  Lemons are a natural astringent and bleaching agent and the egg will add extra conditioning.

You'll Need:

  • One Egg White
  • Juice from Half a Lemon

Beat egg until frothy, stir in lemon juice.  Apply to freshly washed face.  Leave on for ten minutes, rinse off in cool water.  Remember to apply an oil free moisturizer or tinted moisturizer.

Eggs for the Hair

Egg yolks are a perfect conditioning ingredient for hair.  They promote shine and help soothe over treated or frizzy hair.

Eggs and Olive Oil

  • Beat two eggs and combine with four tablespoons of olive oil.
  • Wrap hair in saran wrap, and then a towel.
  • Relax for Twenty Minutes.
  • Rinse out with coolish water (You don't want the eggs with too hot of water).

Eggs and Baby Oil

This time tested conditioner calls for one cup water, two egg yolks, and two teaspoons of baby oil.

  • Beat the eggs til' frothy
  • Add Baby Oil
  • Add Water

Apply to hair, leave on for about ten minutes, rinse.

For the best results for all of these egg beauty treatments, we suggest using organic eggs and allowing them to reach room temperature.  You'll love how you look and feel after any one of these egg beauty treatments!
