The Hidden Truth: What a Man Really Finds Sexy on Women

Updated on July 29, 2013

For centuries women’s articles of clothing have been made into two categories, one for the public to see and one’s they wear in the home. Now it may appear that these days the two can be somewhat blurred between the lines by today’s fashion icons. But an article from Redbook called 'The 5 Outfits Guys Secretly Hope You'll Wear' states that men aren’t into what you think they are into as far as the two categories are concerned. What do you think men deem as sexy? Well here are a few items from Redbook that make guys heads turn. See if it’s what you expected.

Sweats and a Tee

Excuse me? That’s easy right? Well don’t overdo it. Sweats yes, but slightly fitting ones. The ones that look like you can smuggle this year’s turkey and ham in is not what they’re referring to. Get something that shows off your figure a bit and top it off with a sexy off-the-shoulder tee. Something comfy for you, yet eye-popping for him. Anything that’s easy to slip in and out of will surely be a hit with your mister.

Be Plain and Simple

What does this mean? Having your outfit encrusted in sequins, zippers with buttons everywhere is not a plus for the man that only wants to see you in something that accentuates your true sexiness. Bracelets up to the elbow just looks cluttered. Nothing is sexier than the curves and figure of a woman along with a few simple pieces of jewelry. That’s exactly what your man wants to see. A few frills are okay but don’t make your outfit too complicated. Just enough buttons and ties can add to the suspense of four-play. But if it’s causing you trouble to even get into, what makes you think he wants to attempt to get you out of it?

Jeans and a White Tank

Back to the basics of comfortably fitting jeans and a nice white tee. Again, simple. Jeans don’t have to hang down to your crack or expose everything you’ve got. Let the imagination wander. That’s what a man does, he fantasizes. Showing him all the goods before he’s able to unwrap it, is kind of a downer for them. Yes it get’s them going but giving yourself a yeast infection in the process is not very attractive. So for the sake of you and him don on some comfortable jeans with a simple tank and let his imagination take care of the rest.

Pencil Skirt and Classic Heels

Mini skirts are out! Haven’t they always been? For those of you that didn’t know, now you know. To say it again, men want something that leads to the imagination not necessarily easy access. And classic heels compliment the legs. Platforms' only true advantage is that they make you look taller. Other than that, they can often make your legs look heavy and make you look hooker-ish if not worn properly. Just keep it simple with a basic 2-4 inch heel. Somehow society has deemed the platform as the preferred heel of today. Well they might be fine for some outfits but to lace your closet wall to wall with them is a big mistake.

Feel Good Panties

Lingerie is always a hit with a man. But whatever you feel good and sexy in, your man will love. Confidence is everything. If you feel less than attractive in your undies a man senses that and can be a bit put off by it. If you feel pretty he’ll want to feel on you. Find yourself something that makes you feel good. Binding, padding up to the neck and underwire can make some women feel awkward, prodded and left losing their breath. Just find yourself a matching bra and panty set that's pretty and comfortable. He’ll appreciate your comfortable vibe and the games will begin.

So what do you think? It all makes sense to me. I think Redbook’s 50-man focus group really hit the nail on the head. Some women these days have a misconception of what truly sexy can be. A lot of it is caused by the portrayal that’s given on television. Most women don’t realize that showing off just enough will get any man’s attention. Remember, leaving something to the imagination is key. Showing everything you’ve got only attracts the wrong man. You don’t have to lace yourself up like a model. Just be yourself and wear what makes your feel attractive. It only makes you confident. If you feel confident men already pick up on that and will find you sexy no matter what you wear.
