History of Avon
In honor of me becoming an Avon Representative I thought Id write on the history of Avon. Everyone some point of another has come across Avon. I was quite curious in how long this company has been around and who formed it. To my surprise it was a man!
Mr. David McConnell
Avon started out as a California perfume company whose founder was Mr. David McConnell age 28 of New York, NY in 1886.
1939 Avon name was born
In 1939 the companies name was then changed to Avon in honor of Mr. McConnell’s favorite playwright William Shakespeare who hailed from the town Strafford- On -Avon in the English Midlands. It was the name of the river that ran through the town. Women have sold Avon since 1886 and that was 34 years before they had the right to vote.
First Avon Lady
First Avon lady was P.F.E.Albee of Winchester, New Hampshire. She is the one that started and promoted the direct selling method of Avon we know today. Avon is sold all over the country and my men and women!
