Scarves

Updated on July 8, 2018

Scarves Are A Must!

Years ago, scarves were mostly worn by older women to protect their hair from the wind or rain. If your newly styled hair was teased and fluffy, the scarf loosely covered it so as not to flatten the style. This was my Mother's generation. The scarf was a very practical tool and came in many colors and patterns. The fabric choice was very limited.

Today, the notorious scarf is fashion tool. The scarf has expanded to include many fabrics, colors, and styles. The scarf of old has become more sophisticated. Its role has become more varied, depending on the need of the user and the temperature, the attire, and the purpose.

Scarves Are For Everyone!

Do you live in a cold climate? During the cold months of the year, wrapping one's neck with a scarf can keep you much warmer. By using a knit or wool scarf, the front of the neck and upper chest can be protected from extremely cold temperatures. Prices vary according to the fabric and the place of purchase.

Today there are scarves and mittens displayed in almost every major clothing store with many bold colors and varied fabrics to combat the effects of cold weather.

Scarves Are Dressy

If you have an outfit that needs a special touch, a scarf could be the answer to your need. Wrap a delicate shawl or scarf over your shoulders or artistically wrap your neck. Fabric choice is important when choosing a scarf. There are many light fabrics available that can compliment a summer wardrobe.

Scarves can compliment your jacket or coat! Color and textures are important to consider when making this selection. Do your eyes sparkle with your scarf addition and do the hues in your scarf complement your hair? Let the scarf work for you, not against you.

My latest scarf purchase was made at Charming Charlies, a local accessory store that is a hot spot for accessories of all types. I was looking for a scarf that would compliment some of my summer outfits. I found an appealing beige scarf, light and airy, with green leaves floating delicately on both ends of the fabric. I can wear it over a shirt or blouse and not feel too warm on a summer day.

Flaunt Your Scarf

The scarf is a wonderful means of dressing up. Did you ever throw on a jacket over an old outfit just to look presentable for dinner? Try a scarf instead. Ladies, a scarf is feminine looking and will enhance your image! They are affordable and fun!

With cold weather approaching, you will find me wrapped in a scarf to keep warm. With a scarf around my neck. even loosely, I don't get cold as easily. Sometimes I don't need even need a coat. The stores are full of new scarves full of color and style. Have you made your purchase?
