Forefather of Kishoor, Johraji had come to Tumkur from Rajasthan, 150 years ago. Tumkur was then the hometown for the next four generations that came after him.

Kishoor was running a jewelry shop for 15 years. But he struck gold when he set up the 17,000-sq.ft Swarnmandir 6 years ago. The glow in his eye we see today tells the crown story that he scripted.

In 2004, he crafted the beauty pageant crown for the first time. Sayali Bhagat, Miss India World, Tanushree Dutta, Miss India Universe and Jyoti Brahmin, Miss India Earth were the lucky woman to wear the crown that year. It was Femina Miss India World Natasha Suri, a semi-finalist at Miss World 2006 in Warsaw, got the chance to wear the beautiful crown. Miss India Earth Amruta Patki and Miss India Universe Neha Kapoor were the other two women who wore the crown in 2006. In 2007, Sarah Jane Dias, Miss India World, Pooja Chitgopekar, Miss India Earth and Puja Gupta, Miss India Universe wore the crowns.

All these crowns were designed by Tanishq and were crafted at Kishoor kumar’s Swarnmandir. These crowns were made for the big player in the jewelry field, Tanishq of Tata Industries.

Tumkur the proud city is one of the busiest industrial towns located in Karnataka state. It is situated at a distance of 70 kilometers north-west of the Bangalore city along National Highway 4. Two National Highways NH-4 and NH-206 pass through this city. The city was proposed to become a Municipal Corporation of Karnataka in 2011.

Design competition held by the internationally famous, Diamond Trading Corporation, had Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai as their model. The necklace was designed by Tanishq and crafted by the same jeweler, Mr. Kishoor Kumar of Swarnmandir. The skilled workers have also designed some magnificent necklaces and crowns for the idols of the well-known temples at Belur, Halebid and many other places.

Tanishq, is a leading jewelry brand in India and an associate sponsor for the beauty event. It confirmed that it outsourced manufacturing of three top crowns to the Tumkur based jeweler. The three gold crowns had together cost Rs.75 lakh. The skilled workforce of 80 people from West Bengal had chiseled out the intricate nuances of gold crowns for the winners since 2004 except for a year's break in 2005. Not only for the Miss India Universe, but they were also made for the Miss India World and Miss India Earth.

The silver crowns for the other 18 finalists at the contest were also crafted by Mr. Kishoor’s team. 50 Goldsmiths took exactly 21 days to make 21 crowns. According to Kishoor’s statement, the crowns consist of 22-carat gold, the finest Cubic Zirconia stones, diamonds and precious color stones.

He was felicitated in the year 2004, at Bangalore for his great craftsmanship that made the whole Karnataka state and nation feel proud.
