Adesso AKB-210 Flexible Mini Keyboard

Updated on September 27, 2009

The first time I saw a flexible keyboard like the Adesso Flexible Mini Waterproof Keyboard, I was watching Live Free or Die Hard.  It was during the scene where one of the terrorists is trying to take over a power plant, and she decides to bring her own keyboard.  I guess they didn’t want any incriminating fingerprints left around on the keyboard that was there, or something.  Personally, I think the studio just got some money to promote that product.

I suppose that one would need a flexible keyboard for jobs in which dust and water are prevalent.  For example, if you work on a boat.  Even though I got the chance to try it out, I didn’t spill water on it, or try and run over it with a truck.  I am told by Adesso that they tried that, but I never did.

I actually got to try this out, and I would have to say that it worked quite well with my computer.  All it took was just plugging it in to my USB or six pen connector, and it worked right away.

One of the problems that I had was that I had to get used to it.  In fact, it was sort of like learning to type again.  The problem I had is that the keys needed a little extra pressure to make it work, and these keys had to be hit dead center.  If you only graze the side, it won’t count.

To prove my point, I will retype what I have written above with this keyboard.

As you can see, it is quite gibbered, and I didn’t include the mistakes that occurred because I hit the “Up Arrow” Key instead of Shift.  It would be incomprehensible if I did.

In short, I will recommend the Adesso AKB-210 for its durability, but not for its accessibility.
