DIY Iphone Decorative Cell Phone Case

Updated on November 1, 2012

So I recently got my first Iphone and of course being me I wanted to make it snazzy. However, when I was looking at cel phone cover prices I had a serious case of sticker shock. I found that the cel phone covers were priced ridiculously high. Personally, I have better things to spend that money on. Instead of dishing out $30.00-$40.00 for decorative cell phone cover, I found this cheap substitute online. All you need are the following materials:

  • · Exacto Knife
  • · Scissors
  • · Pencil
  • · Clear back cel phone case
  • · Scrapbook paper

This is such an easy project and takes only a few minutes. You don’t have to be experienced in crafts to do this. Now I got a cell phone case with rubber sides (because I’m a clutz) and a clear back so the scrapbook paper will be seen. I found this for a couple bucks on ebay (I’ll put some below). Now let’s get to the actual steps to create your own personalized cel cover!

Directions:

1.Take your choice of scrapbook paper and lay it nice side down. Now on the plain side trace around the clear cel cover to get the basic shape.

2. Take your scissors or exacto knife (your choice) and cut out the shape.

3. Now place the paper in the case with the nice side out in the clear cover and mark with pencil where you need to use the exacto knife. Remove paper from cover. You will need to cut out where the camera is.

4. After you use the exacto knife to cut the camera hole then you can place it back into the clear case and attach it to your phone. DONE!

There you have it. Now you have an awesome cel phone cover that is unique to your personality. I got my scrapbook paper from Michaels. They have a wide range of paper from 50 cents to $2.00. Currently, my cel phone cover is a shimmering aquamarine. Now I have an Iphone 4 but I did manage to make my mom one and she has a 3gs. Keep in mind doing this for the 3gs is a bit more challenging, because the phone is curved, but it can be done. It will just take you a bit longer to get the shape right. This can also be done for any phone really that has a clear case made for it.
