The Q&A Section of HubPages

Recently, I asked a question in the Q&A section of HubPages. My question to my fellow Hubbers was, "What parts of Facebook frustrate you?" I found the answers interesting and want to share with readers who may not have seen the page previously.

Check out the original page:

What parts of Facebook frustrate you?

Why Ask This Question?

My question originated after a fellow Hubber told me that she was frustrated by parts of Facebook. She explained that she had written "rants" (her word) within a few groups within the popular social media network.

Did I mention that she wrote her comments within a group on Facebook? Let me head over the dictionary to see the definition of Irony...

The question got me wondering whether other Hubbers are also frustrated by Facebook. If so, I was interested in finding out what parts of the social network in particular are frustrating amongst the writing community.

I loved how quickly Hubbers started to view and answer the question. I recognized by the speedy response that there are gripes about Facebook. Thank-you to all who commented!

Get out the magnifying glass because it's time to look over the answers in more depth.

The Timeline

Hubber Sincerely T wrote, "One of the reasons I'm no longer on Facebook is because of Timeline. I absolutely do not like that format."

If you head to the original Q&A page, you will see I selected this answer as the "Best"; HubPages encourages us when we close the Questions to also pick a "Best" one. The reason I chose this answer over the others is for the sheer popularity of this response.

For months now, I have seen comments amongst my Facebook Friends about the Timeline and the majority of comments are not positive. Specific complaints about the Timeline feature amongst my 252 Friends have included:

  • Dislike of the two-sided profile feed.
  • Inability to go back to the old FB design.
  • Plug-ins for other social media networks do not work the same. FB seems to compile a group of updates from the joined network and then post them onto the Timeline all at once.
  • Friends said the old design worked just fine and didn't understand why a new one was rolled out.
  • Crashes as the Timeline loads and slow load speed.

Given the number of complaints about the Timeline that I have heard, I do think it was necessary to select this one as the "Best" answer!

Hubber iefox5 also wrote that he is frustrated with the Timeline:

"I'm not used to the new facebook timeline design and miss previous one :("

Do You Play Facebook Games?

Drama Queens and Kings

Hubber DS Duby brought up the topic of Drama Queens & Kings on the social media network. He wrote that this is one of the points that frustrate him at Facebook. I believe he may be referring to the statuses that cry out for attention, such as:

  • "I had an awful day today! Want to know why?"
  • "Waaaa life sucks :( "
  • And more! (Here I turn away from Drama Queens & Kings as they seem to like the attention a little too much)

DS Duby also wrote that he is frustrated by all of the invitations he receives to play FB games, which he does not care to play. To put it more directly, he wrote, "I hate facebook games".

There are several games to play on the social media network and often its users are prompted to send invitations to connections to play as well. A lot of these notifications can be frustrating for users who do not participate in the games.

A Funny Addition

I also received a funny comment from Hubber JBrummett. JBrummett wrote:

"I'm having trouble with the signing up part. I still haven't done that =P"

Not everyone on HubPages is on Facebook. Some social media networks appeal more than others to Hubbers. Given the limited amount of time in the day (I still want to introduce the 25 hour day!), Hubbers must bide their time between their favourite social media networks.

Are you on Facebook? What are other parts of Facebook that frustrate you? I would love to hear your comments!
