Take care of your computer.

Updated on January 6, 2018

If you take care of your computer, it will take care of you.

Basic facts about computers.

Computers can be fun. In my opinion, they are the greatest thing that has ever happened to our society. At the same time, it can be a nightmare for some. I want to share some thoughts about how to handle your computer and get the most from it. First, I do not claim to be a guru on this, but my experiences through trial and error has helped me learn about computers and I hope that what I have to share can benefit someone along the way.

Computers are everywhere and you can find it in a variety of ways.Smartphones and IPads are the latest fad along with more to come. What I am about to share is, basically, from a desktop/laptop point of view. Most of what I learned has been through the use of Vista Windows, which is in my opinion, a fairly decent program if I may say so.

For starters, we,all, know how important an anti-virus is. A year ago, I found out that my android phone needed a anti-virus (Duh). I installed one and cannot complain because it treats me right. My next project will be to learn more about the android/smartphone process. Now, concerning the desktop/laptop, a good anti-virus is a plus. Not having one will be harmful to your computer, especially if you use the internet.

If you don't have the money to spend on a anti-virus, you can get one for free. Free is good if you just use your computer for entertainment or use it for leisure on a limited basis. If you use it frequently and for hours on end, you might consider doing a research on some good anti-virus products and compare prices. I have used Norton and McAfee and have had good results.

Take a deep breath.

Beyond Anti-Virus...

Why do I title this-- Beyond Anti-Virus? Simply because your computer needs some maintenance. It's like a car. You don't just put gas and oil. You give it a regular tune up. Following these tips will help get the most for your investment. If you are like me and work making an extra income online, you need to follow these tips faithfully.

When you use your computer and use the internet, you will go through different websites. Most of the companies that you see will add a cookie to your computer. That is to find out what are your tastes and preferences so that they can bombard you with their ads. If you acquire too much of these, it will certainly slow down your computer. Sometimes, your computer will freeze, which in turn can get anyone angry and frustrated. You want to avoid this.

First, you need to, from time to time, apply the internet options. I have a Compaq Presario computer, so I go to my control panel and go to the Network and Internet section and click it. Then, I click on the internet options. Once I get there, the internet properties box will appear and I will go to the second column which is the browsing history. Afterwards, I will click delete and a delete browsing history box will appear, Then, I will click on the items that I want deleted except for the password item. Finally, I will click delete and it will take care of the cookies.

If you have Google chrome, you can do a similar process as well, You can go to history, then click on the icon which says Clear browsing area. Once you do that, the clear browsing area box will appear and you can click on all items you want to delete. I will, then, delete all except the password. Then, I will choose which items to delete on the top section which reads Obliterate the following items. You are given several choices to pick such as delete from the last hour, one day, last week, etc.on a drop down box. That should solve the problem of having unwanted cookies on your computer on the Google chrome.

After doing this, it might be a good idea to restart your computer. Doing this will help it run better. Other things you need to be aware of in your computer. Do not overload your computer with pictures and videos of family. Having pictures and videos of family is good but be careful. Overloading the picture files can cause computer slowdown and freeze some of your programs. I, personally, would use my face book page to load up on my loved ones pictures. Another alternative is to transfer your picture files to a CD or a floppy disk. Observing this procedure can save some much needed space for your memory.

Concluding thoughts....

Again, these are simple but basic facts to bring about longevity on your computer and give it some great care.Let's face it, computers are here to stay. It pays to learn how to upkeep and manage your investment. In the long run, it will be worth it. Check out the video below for more on caring for your computer.

If you are in the market for a nice and simple computer, may I suggest the HP Notebook? This convenient item has some nice features that can help you in your personal or business demands. Since I brought my laptop from Amazon six months ago, it has been a big blessing. I, also, use it in my business and it is a tremendous asset. The price is not bad too but I would suggest getting a warranty. Although these computers are great, it is better to prepare just in case you might have problems along the way. So, if you want to replace that old computer at a great price, check this nice item out with all these cool features. Finally, don't forget to take advantage of the Amazon prime feature which will include free shipping. A nice addition to have especially for future purchases.
