A weekend in Paris
A wonderful weekend in Paris
Just enjoyed 3 nights in Paris staying in the Gare de Nord area, principally because the euro train arrives at that station, what a mistake that was....its a rough area and I would not recommend anyone staying there. In hindsight I should have paid that little bit extra and stayed closer to the main attractions.
We arrived Friday afternoon and just ate out at a local Japanese restaurant that night deciding to chill that day. On the Saturday we jumped on the metro and started our sightseeing beside the Arc de Triomphe and then enjoyed a very expensive cup of coffee in one of the restaurants within the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. I could not believe how crammed the tables were within the restaurant, talk about pack them in!
After the coffee we headed for The Eiffel Tower and decided to walk the 600 plus steps up to the second stage, I was impressed how well we did as a lot of people took rest stops just getting to the first stage, I must admit my legs were truly pumped up by the time we got to the second stage.
After our decent we enjoyed a crepe and hot chocolate beside the tower on the opposite side of the river before walking to Notre Dame which took over an hour. After enjoying the sights of the Cathedral we then enjoyed a chinese meal within a 5 min walk away from the Cathedral.
On the Sunday we walked from our hotel to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica which was only a 20 min walk and the views were breath taking.
On the Monday i took the train back to Brittany, while my girl friend took the euro star back to London. It was great to be back home at the Brittany holiday cottage with private pool.
