Palm Springs is One of My Favorite Destinations in the Sunny California Desert With so Many Great Accommodating Villas

When I think of where my favorite vacation destinations have been over the past twenty-five years, I realize all of my greatest vacation memories are from the holidays I have spent my vacation in sunny California. This is how I know that Palm Springs is One of My Favorite Destinations in the Sunny California Desert With so Many Great Accommodating Villas. I fell in love with California the very first time I landed at the Palm Springs International Airport way back in 1986. I will never forget the beautiful, warm, fresh and fragrant air that captured my senses the very first time my wife and I descended onto the tarmac at the Palm Springs International airport. I was immediately overcome with a sense of escape and relaxation and at the same time knew this incredible paradise was our new home away from home. The best part of a vacation in sunny California is there are so many fun things to do and places to see.

The first thing we noticed is everywhere you look, there are flowers, waterfalls, palm trees and amazing landscaping. We could drive around for hours at a time just taking in all the scenerie, but its even better when you walk. For those that enjoy walking, there must be hundreds and hundreds of miles of beautifully paved and landscaped walking paths. It truly is a close to paradise as we have ever seen or experienced.

And do you like to golf? Palm Springs and the surrounding areas are home to some of the best golf courses in the world, so if you want to take a break from the beautifull walking paths you can always take in a relaxing round of golf. The air is always sweet and fresh and everyday has the fresh scent of Spring.

Visit Beautiful Palm Springs When You Vacation in Sunny California

The centre of the universe starts in beautiful Palm Springs when you vacation in sunny California. Here you will discover an oasis in the desert with and endless supply of resorts, swimming pools, tennis courts, great hiking, site seeing and of course tons of the best shopping anywhere. Besides having an endless supply of sun and palm trees, Palm Springs is also central to many of California's great attractions. So many great tourist attractions are only an hour or two away. We love to stay in Palm Springs and travel to neighboring California cities. Driving along the many freeways is a total escape from the cold winter climate back home.

Palm Springs is actually just one of many great desert communities, which are all connected together and known as the Coachella Valley. There are several to choose from and each has its own distinctive flaire. Some of our other favourites are Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert and La Quinta. You'll want to visit each of these paradise desert getaways and enjoy the ambiance each has to offer.

When you stay in Palm Springs there are so many different condos, villas, hotels and private homes to choose from. We like to stay at a new accommodation everytime we visit California as they all offer something special to offer. We have stayed in private home rentals, Villa condominiums and even hotels and have never been dissappointed.

Shopping and Attractions in Palm Springs

There are so many great places to shop whether you're in Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert or any of the many adjoining communities. In Palm Springs the North Palm Canyon drive is the incredible downtown mecca of the Coachella Valley. Full of great boutiques and restaurants, you will never get tired of visiting this amazing venue. Every Thursday they hold a street fair with outdoor displays of crafts, art, clothing and of course tantalizing treats. They also have live entertainment which includes noted Southern California guitarist David Wayne.

Further down in Rancho Mirage, you will find The River, which also includes a first class movie theater, great shopping, great restaurants and an outdoor river and fountain walk about. We have spent many evenings dining, shopping and listening to great live entertainment at The River.

A few minutes away, another favourite venue is the El Paseo shopping experience. Here you will enjoy a beautiful day walking, shopping and dining in a very prestigous are of Palm Desert. Some of our favorite restaurants are along this famous street and the experience culminates with a visit to the multi level outdoor mall area at The Shops of El Paseo. You will find a beautiful park like ambiance surrounded by great shopping and dining like no where else. Palm Desert also boasts the beautiful Living Desert. This is another great attraction and will provide you with the opportunuity to walk through the desert's natural beauty and say hello to many of nature's finest critters.

Attractions in Southern California

Palm Springs is located so close to many great family fun attractions. Everytime we visit California we always stay in Palm Springs but make several road trips to places like Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios, San Diego Zoo and many other great attractions. All are within a hour or two by car from Palm Springs and all offer days of fun and adventure for the whole family.

Disneyland is of course the family favorite as we love all the rides, the atmosphere and the shows. Some of our favourite rides are the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones Adventure, Splash Mountain and Space Mountain, but truly we really enjoy every ride in the park. The parades and late night fireworks are also fantastic. They also have the Downtown Disney District outside the park full of great shopping and restaurants to please any pallet. Across from Disneyland is the California Adventure Park so you get two adventures side by side.

We have also had a great expereince while visiting the San Diego Zoo, Universal Studios and Knotts Berry Farm. The San Diego Zoo is one of my favorite zoos anywhere. I love the tropical setting and all of the great exhibits, from exotic birds to gorillas, the San Diego Zoo is an amazing place to visit. You can walk the entire zoo path or take the tour aboard the double decker bus or view everything from the Sky Tram.
