Panama Nightlife

Updated on January 3, 2013

If you’re planning on being in Central America, whether because it’s local to you or for a fun-filled tropical vacation, don’t miss out on the exciting nightlife. Panama City has a vast number of must-see attractions, restaurants, bars, night clubs, strip clubs, and more. If you don’t plan ahead, you may miss out on hours of fun when the sun goes down. Panama City is split into three main party zones: Casco Viejo, Call Uruguay and Calzada Amado.

Casco Viejo

The first party zone of Panama City is Casco Viejo, which sits on the outskirts of the city. This is often the most popular party area of the city with the most notable nightclubs. In Casco Viejo, you will find dozens of jazz clubs, local pubs, restaurants for eclectic tastes, and rich culture throughout every restaurant, bar and nightclub. If you enjoy jazz music, low-key nightclubs or bars with a local feel, you will enjoy the Casco Viejo nightlife.

Call Uruguay

Next is Call Uruguay which is best for the crowd looking for high energy, typically attracting party goers in their early 20s who are new to Panama City. Cal Uruguay is home to Panama City’s dance club scene with dozens of bars and clubs catering to drinking and dancing all night long. It is definitely the more party-esque party zone in Panama City, as opposed to the jazz music and local feel of Casco Viejo and the mellow feel of Calzada Amado.

Calzada Amado

For vacationers looking for a more subtle and casual nightlife experience, Calzada Amado is the best area of Panama City. Casco Viejo includes mostly contemporary cafes, bars, restaurants, and some nightclubs. You will enjoy the rich culture and magnificent ocean views of Panama, dine in dark and secluded cafes and restaurants, and get drinks with friends at local bars. Calzada Amado is the choice for couples and families who are looking to unwind late at night but want more of a casual experience, rather than the high energy of nightclub parties like in Call Uruguay.

The nightlife in Panama City is extremely diverse, offering just about anything you could want from a lively city when the sun goes down and the party starts. Whether you want to listen to live jazz in Casco Viejo, party all night in Call Uruguay, or enjoy drinks and a meal in Calzada Amado, you will get the nightlife you desire in Panama City.
