California -just for beach lovers

We drove into Seal Beach on an overcast, cool January day. Pulled to up to the beach house and was greeted by the housekeeper, just finishing up after the previous guest had left. We loved the little house immediately and felt right at home.

Of course, the next thing we did was put on our walking shoes and take off to explore our little get-away town. What a pleasant surprise - the house was only about two blocks from the sandy beach and.... right on the edge of the sand-a cafe with tasty Margaritas!! Don't miss the Rivers End for breakfast, lunch and cocktails. However, there is a winter schedule so check it out for hours. We thought we would walk down that evening for a drink and to watch the sunset. It was closed: Winter hours only serve breakfast and lunch, close early afternoon.

You can walk miles and miles, though it is a small town. There is a bike path at the parking lot by Rivers End that goes all the way to Azusa - 38 miles. Needless to say, we did not walk that far. Only about three miles.

If you love to walk as we do, you can walk to the downtown area from anywhere you are staying. It will only be about one to three miles from where you stay to downtown, church, the pier or to the restaurants. Of course, it is also that distance to get back home!

Old Town Cafe

There are many more, of course, but we only had a week and with children living in the next town, we spent lots of time eating in their favorite spots in Huntington Beach. We certainly look forward to returning to Seal Beach next year so we can try all the other fun places.
