Ten Places I Would Like To Visit Before I Die

Source

As we grow older sometimes time isn't always on our side. All of us have a bucket list. But should we accomplish all of our goals really depends on how we handle our finances, job opportunities and our goals. Are we side-tracked from our dream? Travel with me as I take you to the ten places I would like to visit before I live this Earth. Both domestically and internationally these are places I have not seen but only in the movies. I dream of going to them one day but for now I only see them in pictures and write about why I wish to go there.

Source

Tuscany Italy

Maybe its because the movie 'Under The Tuscan Sun' mesmerized my senses or maybe its due to the World famous artists that originate from there such as MichaelAngelo, Dante and DaVinci. There is something mystical about the landscape of Tuscany, Italy that lures me into its majestic beauty. Being able to see the 'Cathedral Of Pisa' , the historical center of Florence and the Val D 'Orcia is what I would like to visit. Do a little shopping and bask in the Italian sun is one of my destinations I would like to see before I die.

Source

Cardiff Wales

Thinking about family on the other side of the Ocean makes me wonder what life would be like if I were there? Cardiff or (Caerdydd) is the capital of Wales and my father's roots. Cardiff is known for the lush greenery and has more parks per capita than any other city in the UK. I would take in a few games of Rugby and Cricket while snacking on 'Bara Birth' or politely known as 'Speckled Cake' in English. I would get to know some of the friendly people of Cardiff and check-out a couple of museums while learning a little bit of family history.

Source

Crete' Greece

Visiting Greece would be amazing! Crete's sits by the Ocean with its history and culture, it would be a delight to enjoy a little nightlife in Malia and roll my toes through the sand. Write about my adventure and take hundreds of pictures of such a beautiful city. Crete', Greece would be a destination I may never wish to leave.

Source

Cologne Germany

Cologne, Germany is one of the oldest cities in Europe. With the passion I have for Art they are known for their contemporary Art and wealthy Architectural history. I would tour the Cathedral of Cologne and bask in its glory and when I am finished I would walk along the River Rhine. I would shop on the 'Schildergrass' and purchase unique things to bring home. I would even try a German beer or two while mingling with the locals, should I ever visit Cologne. These are the International hot spots I would like to see before God calls me home.

Source

Atlanta Georgia

In the United States there are places, I have been and places I would love to see. Going to Atlanta has always been on my bucket list. I would enjoy the Atlanta History Center and attend the Atlanta ballet. Packing a lunch I would tour through Grant's Park admiring all of the old Victorian homes that have so many stories to tell. Could you imagine running your toes through the grass in Grant Park? Smelling the Cherry blossoms and daydreaming about wherever your mind takes you? The sun kissing your cheeks and the wind blowing through your hair?

Source

Philadelphia Pennsylvania

If you reside in 'Philly' lucky you! Home to the 'Liberty Bell' , there is so much culture and nightlife there. The best "Philly Cheese steak" sandwiches in the World are made in Philadelphia. I would visit Independence Hall and stand in admiration knowing that the "Declaration of Independence" was signed there. I would tour the homes of Betsy Ross and Edgar Allen Poe soaking in the History of when our Country began. With so many museums, touring the African American Museum in Philadelphia and the Atwater Kent museum would be icing on the cake.

Source

New Orleans Louisiana

With all the culture, festivals, music and history who would not wish to visit New Orleans? Home of the Mardi Gras and the history of the French Quarter New Orleans would become a destination for me. A multicultural city that would be a mesmerizing and memorable journey. I would also make sure I did not book any flights during Hurricane season. With my luck I would end up experience that too and when visiting I would not be prepared.

Source

Montpelier Vermont

The four seasons in Vermont are breathtaking. Have you ever seen them on a calendar? Montpelier, Vermont is the smallest capital in the Country but rich with culture. It abolished slavery while still independent and is home to the best Maple Syrup in the World. I would travel the mountains and forests looking at all of the beauty that surrounds Vermont. Finding the most charming bed and breakfast I would bring a great book and leave the laptop at home.

Source

Washington D.C.

All of the history of the United States is nestled beautiful in Washington D.C. I would have to spend at least a week in Washington visiting all of the sites. The best time for me would be during the Cherry Blossom Festival. The beauty of all of the trees in bloom is priceless. It would exciting to walk the paths and halls of our founding forefathers; and travel to the Lincoln Memorial , National Museum of American History and the Smithsonian. Being able to see Washington D.C. is of importance to me as an American. Sometimes we have to be reminded of how our Country began.

Source

Honolulu Hawaii

There is something intriguing about a city that is surrounded by water and tropical foliage. Crystal blue skies and tradition of the Island would be an adventure. Touring Pearl Harbor would be so heart-touching; but I still don't understand why those men are entombed there? I would attend Luaus, shop and enjoy the beach. These are the top 10 places I would like to see before I die. What places would you like to see?

Great places AEvans! You forgot Atlantic City N.J.; Greece, Italy and Wales are excellent places to visit. You did choose better than us. For some reason Moscow sounds too hard to be reached. We would love to go to Norway and further north to Iceland... for unexplainable reasons.

Thanks for the quick trip around the world! :) Ah, if only! I have my heart set on visiting Italy someday, I'm also a huge art lover and to visit the art galleries and museums there would be a dream come true. I've always had a thing about visiting New York just to say I'd been there and walked the streets. I'd love to visit Mexico to sample their food first hand and learn about their culture.

Loved reading this! Made me wonder where I would like to visit before I die. I'm on vacation right now in Washington D.C. and definitely recommend visiting here! Voted up and Shared! Take care, Kelley

I would love to travel overseas and see the places you mentioned. I have been to Atlanta, New Orleans and Washington. I was in New Orleans during the Marde Gras, had a ball. The trip to Washington was ok, we saw the World war II Memorial. I enjoyed the history. I love art too, I can spend hours looking and wishing. Thank you. I hope you get to travel to all the places. Cheers

billybuc: Philly, D.C. and Vermont? How lucky you are to have lived and visited there. I love the four seasons and I am sure the leaves are breathtaking. :)

billybuc profile image

billybuc 4 years ago from Olympia, WA

It is unlike anything I have ever seen; the leaves seem to change color overnight so that one morning you come around a curve and there is this brilliant display of color that was not there the previous morning. One side note: the capitol building in Montpelier may be the ugliest I have ever seen which is truly odd since the city is so beautiful.

Cardiff is a wonderful city, I was born there. Wales is a tiny Principality but the most beautiful place on the planet.

AEvans profile image

billybuc: Now that is something I will take note of when I visit Vermont. I am going to read the History of the City and find out when it was built. I love color and I could only imagine the color of the leaves changing. :)

Gypsy Willow: Oh thank you for telling me about Cardiff. My father was born there to; but I have never seen it but I hope one day I can travel and see where my father had been. Welsh people are some of the kindest people in the World. I am so glad I inherited a little of that Gene pool. :)

Fantastic hub! I've been to four of the places on your list (DC, NOLA, Hotlanta, and Hawaii) - all worthy places to explore. And I have to agree with visiting Alaska, but I'm not biased or anything. I would love to visit Australia, but if I'm going to travel all that distance, I might as well check out New Zealand and Fiji. :) Great hub. Voted UP!

This is such a great list! I have been to Greece and its one of the most beautiful stunning places in the world. I first went to Kos one of the islands, and I remember standing on the beach and looking at the sea and was so stunned at the beauty. Corfu wasn't quite as good but I did go to the north end, but Cyprus, Wow! it had everything I loved, archaeology the old ampitheatres where the gladiators fought, that was great! looking down into the underground pits where they got ready to fight, I was totally drawn back into history. And the greek and roman mosaics nearby too. And the waterfalls and the dams, and just about everything else too! my son is going there in a few weeks and I am so jealous! lol!

Edwinoel Tanglao profile image

It's beautiful indeed to see these beautiful places, AEvans, and I hate to be KJ or kill joy, rather, I prefer to KJOH or 'keep Jesus in our hearts,' where one can see beyond the beauty of all these as coming from God, they are all God's gifts to us as we are all God's gifts to each other, our talents, our kills, our creativity, our being unique. But Jesus in me tells me to love him more and my neighbor, who is in need, physically and spiritually, that I may better please him, Jesus, as being instrumental to my creation and to all the great and awesome things he has made possible in this world to make man happy.

For me, as in my experience, and Jesus' message in me, if we make God happy in others, and acknowledging that all these good things come from him, the more you will see your life blessed spiritually, and our physical health and blessings just follow. Truly amazing indeed is our God. But we cannot understand him with our mind alone, rather, with our heart and spirit.

My next goal to visit would be the Holy Land, and nearby European cities of note that will further help enhance my faith, for it is eternal life with him that pushes me to share with others the light of Christ, that more may be saved, guided and helped. This being a passing life, time is always getting shorter.

Have you also been reminded, as I have been many times, that this life is only temporary? That is why I find time, whenever and wherever I am, to share my faith - the more one may become stronger in this world, and better appreciate this life with joy and peace in our hearts as we KJOH.

Great hub to share the beauty of God's creation AEvans. Take care and blessings to you.

AEvans profile image

AEvans 4 years ago from SomeWhere Out There Author

Edwinoel: I like KJOH and visiting the Holy land would be awesome! When you share your faith and people see you as Christ like they will turn to Jesus. If we don't act Christ like they tend to turn the other cheek. You are on the right track. :)

Hi Julianna... what a great list of places to go and see and be a part of even if it is only a short time. Of your list I think the one that attracts me the most is Crete' Greece. For some reason I have always been attracted to Greece.

I have been to Atlanta, Philadelphia, Vermont and New Orleans. Atlanta and New Orleans are places that will stay in the memory bank for years to come. The people, sites and food are all well worth the trip.

Hugs from Canada
