Five Ozark Mills on a day-trip from our home; a grand experience - come join our fun! ;-)

This tour is one we have intended to take for some time, and that time finally came. We drove about an hour and half to the middle of the county, near Gainesville, then actually began the tour. You can follow the map on the website link provided, if you wish.

Three of the Mills provided extensive information and they are covered, with more photos, on featured lenses, as noted below.

We are my wife, Nancy, our daughter, Allison, and myself. Allison and I both took many photos. All of the photos on this lens are drawn from that pool of photo images.

The photo here is of Zanoni Mill, located on private property at the Zanoni Mill Inn and Ranch. They are kind enough to let us drive onto their property to view the Mill. The distinctive feature of this mill is the rare overshoot millwheel.

Old Dawt Mill

The Old Dawt Mill is a popular trout fishing and tourist vacation destination. It is also known for canoeing and kayaking on the North Fork of the White River. The mill building itself is now a restaurant. It was closed the day we were there, but we enjoyed seeing the grounds and lodging available, the pond behind the dam on the river, and the fine gift shop.

See more details and photos in the Old Dawt Mill lens featured below.

Hodgson Mill

The Hodgson Mill is a well-preserved historic site still sitting on the 3,000,000 gallon per day spring that feeds the pond and stream in front of the mill. No longer a working mill, the 'Hodgson Mill' floor and other products you can purchase are produced in a modern mill in nearby Gainesville.

The extensive craft shop now in the mill building handle many locally produced crafts and other products.

The Rockbridge Mill site is really a small village sitting on over 3,000 acres of land with extensive lodging, dining, and recreational accommodations.

See the Featured lenses links below for additional photos and more information including the official website link where all the latest information is available. We really enjoyed having lunch at the restaurant - great food, great service, reasonable prices.

Hammond Mill

Hammond Mill is located far off the beaten path on a gravel road. It is currently a residence and is being renovated by them. We were fortunate to be able to have a few words with them about the site, which we appreciated. We'd like to go back in a year or so to see how it progresses.

They pointed out that the big round window was installed by the previous owners.
