I hate writing my Bio. Don't know why.

Hello! I am Inego Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!

Oh. Oops. That's not me. That's from the Princess Bride. Great movie, though. Funny scene.

I'm Donna. I define myself a little too much through others (like my role as Mom to my 2 great sons, for example.) And not enough by other things that make me happy. Though I'm working on that. I think it's because I'm a Cancer, that family weighs so heavily in my life and is such a major part of who I am. Nothing else brings me as much joy (or as much heartache. You parents know what I mean.)

I enjoy close relationships with my mom, my brother and my sister, and their families. I find it unfortunate that people spend so much time relating through keyboards, and cannot piece together conversations on the phone. I asked a teen recently why he texted his girlfriend instead of calling her. He said there were less awkward pauses. I thought, how sad. How do people learn to live with each other, if they cannot handle an awkward pause?

I like quiet; I don't mind being alone. I prefer the company of one or two real people who don't mind awkward pauses, and corny (or if I know you very well, salty,) humor. I like touch. Hugs, pats on the back, back scratches, shoulder rubs. Some smart fella on Ted.com says that we need 8 hugs a day for emotional well-being. I readily donate to just about anyone. Just ask. If you abuse the offer (an opportunisticly misplaced hand, for example,) however, I will level you. Just sayin.

I like to garden, but not pull weeds. I like to bake and cook, but not clean up. I love the beach, and hot weather, and going barefoot. I like going out of my way for other people, when I feel appreciated. I have painted murals, sewn bridesmaids dresses, laid a tile floor, painted a house, planted a great garden. Not exactly scaling Everest or running marathons, but that's not for everyone. I have to remind myself of that.

Currently, I am on a quest to find myself amidst notions of who I am, who I could be, who I want to be. Picking up and discarding cards, working on that perfect hand.
