Becky Vitro (Bee-Bee's World)

I've lived in NW Arkansas since 1972. A transplant from California. Up until that time, I led a sheltered life with my grandparents and older brother and aunts and uncles.

In 1972 my mother moved me and my older brother and younger half brother to Arkansas. I suppose she was in search of a simpler life for herself and wanted to be a mother before her children were grown. We lived in a small town of about 1400 people. I loved it there.

In 1976, just before starting my junior year of high school, mom had a devistating stroke at 42. Life as we knew was over.

I married young. Still a child myself, and had a baby girl in 1979, just before my 19th birthday. My second child, a sweet baby boy came along in 1982. My children were my entire life. We had a working farm. A dairy and chickens and my kids were my only link to the outside world.

In 1997, I decided it was time for me to leave my marriage and as they say, find myself. I know... sounds corny but it's exactly what I did. I had growing to do and I knew there was a life out there for me. I discovered I was good at managing people and training them. I became very independent and I was my old self again... that girl from so long ago that laughed and felt joy and self confidence.

My kids still mean more to me than anything. My daughter is my best friend and my son will always be my little boy.

I love writing short stories and my best friend has told me for years that I need to publish some of these. I felt that no one else would get it. She loved the stories and got the humor because she knew me and was part of it. No one else would get it. But I found the Hub pages and thought "why not"?
