On May 11, 1922, the citizens of Guelph, Ontario Canada, were rocked by news of the violent death of Joseph Veroni. Described as a grocer and a baker, he was actually the Godfather of a Calabrian gang with ties to the infamous Rocco Perri.
In 1931, the miners at Estevan went on strike. After several weeks, they marched in a parade into Estevan. There, a confrontation between miners and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) occurred, leaving three miners dead and several wounded.
