Briton I call myself, and a Briton is what I am, not very imaginative I know but sometimes straightforwards is best, born and brought up in Scotland yet lived most of my life in England.
Married for over 36 years to the most patiently long suffering lady, three grown up children, all of good education and all fine citizens holding jobs of their choice.
Ex serviceman, served in a troubled land, hospitalised twice through the efforts of the other side, my fault I guess for wearing the wrong uniform, though I can see their point of view, I would not want me wandering the streets with a weapon either.
I am now a Licensed aircraft engineer with a major airline at London Heathrow and still very much enjoying the work after basically 40 years in the trade, the odd break here and there for war games.
I have visited the USA many times and have to admit to a large degree of Southern leaning inside of me, my relatives fought for the Confederacy, but I aint no bigot nor racialist, treat the man as you wish to be treated is what I am. though I dont suffer fools gladly.
For your info, I enjoy a good debate, so long as its well thought out and structured.
My interests are many and varied, Art, History, Religious beliefs/ non beliefs, Metal working, anything mechanical, and amazingly Embroidery machines, single head Multi needle, my wife owns some and I repair them.
Love to read extensively, anything instructive, always learning , questing and inquiring, have been a member of various re-enactment and living history groups.
My initial education was not that great, mostly because it bored me, it was so slow, and heavily structured, though I could read and write quite clearly by the time I was four.
I now have mostly through my own efforts, with I must admit a fair bit of guidance from various persons and institutions, a large and broad educational knowledge of the world and quite a few deeper specialist subjects,
I love the classics, (eg) voltaire, plato, etc` and some very good modernist authors in factual and escapism too, you never ever stop learning.
I am also a nationaly qualified technical instructor, canoe / kayak instructor and road safety trainer.
I like a laugh and a joke, love high places, great forests, trees and rivers, animals and nature, hate injustice and the big brother do as your told thing, but I do enjoy people, yet need my own space at times.
So I take my olde english longbow out and do some distance shooting across a field away from all others, no killing of creatures involved. just to see the arrows in flight is ofttimes enough, that and the effort involved is a great release of tension (no pun intended).
This is my first real attempt at trying to write publicly, and I just wish I dont foul up too much, and that I make some kind of sense, and some sensible contributions to various topics.
