She went on to Princeton University, where she studied Politics and graduated Cum Laude in 1991. Afterward, she taught English in Japan for two years through the Princeton-in-Asia program before enrolling at Tulane University School of Medicine, where she graduated in the top 5% of her class in 1998. She completed her residency at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine. Her academic achievements include induction into Alpha Omega Alpha, as well as the Herbert B. Rothschild, M.D. Award and the Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation.
She has volunteered in relief efforts after Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey, worked with advocacy organizations, and actively educated the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Alongside her professional work, she and her family have supported many charitable causes that focus on health, children, and community well-being.
She has balanced her professional life with raising a family and celebrating more than 30 years of marriage. She enjoys traveling, gardening, sailing, spending time outdoors, and being with family and friends. Her commitment to volunteering and community service remains an essential part of her life.
