Cory Simmons has been practicing law for over 17 years, specializing in civil litigation, mainly in business disputes, contract issues, and securities cases. Throughout his career, he has represented clients in complex commercial litigation matters, gaining recognition in Florida and Georgia for his expertise and effectiveness in the courtroom.
Born in Florida on July 31, 1980, Cory Simmons, an Atlanta Attorney, attended Florida State University, earning a Bachelor’s in Philosophy and Theater. While at FSU, he was actively involved in leadership programs and earned the distinction of being a Florida Bright Futures Scholar. After completing his undergraduate degree, Cory went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law. He stood out for his academic achievements and passion for law there, becoming a Moot Court Honor Board member. His success in mock trial competitions included winning the National Moot Court Competition in 2005 and being named Best Oralist in the Prince Evidence Competition in 2006.
Cory Simmons began his legal career in 2007 as an Assistant State Attorney in the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida. During his tenure, he prosecuted numerous cases, ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies, and handled 18 trials, securing 12 guilty verdicts. This role gave him a deep understanding of litigation, from case preparation to courtroom advocacy.
In 2009, Cory transitioned to civil litigation and joined The Law Offices of Robert Shafer & Associates as a Senior Associate. In this position, he represented clients in civil matters, including criminal defense, personal injury claims, and civil forfeitures, managing over 70 depositions. He later moved to Baumann, Gant & Keeley, P.A., where he took on more high-profile cases, including a construction defect dispute with 26 active parties.
In 2016, Cory Simmons joined Morgan & Morgan P.A. as a lead attorney and partner in the business trial group. He oversaw commercial litigation efforts in North Florida and Georgia, handling multi-million-dollar cases, including a pharmaceutical patent dispute valued at over $20 million. His achievements made him be named "Attorney of the Year" in 2015.
In October 2024, Cory became the Managing Partner at Spizzirri Law, LLC, a boutique commercial litigation firm. He continues to lead high-stakes cases and manage firm operations.
Outside his legal work, Cory Simmons is committed to community service, volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Florida and JASMYN. He enjoys hiking and playing softball, balancing his personal and professional life. Cory Simmons remains a respected attorney and active community member.
