Hello Readers,
I would like to take the opportunity to give you a little information about myself. My name is Rose and I am 33 years old. Starting this blog is an exciting opportunity for me since I have so many interests and have been told that my ideas could potentially be very helpful.
My husband and I have been married for 5 years (in May), we have a beautiful 2 year old daughter, which we just love and adore. I am a stay at home mom and just enjoy life to the fullest. The fulfillment I get knowing I can be there for my daughter and husband is so meaningful to me. Making sure my family is taken care of is my first priority.
I am hoping that starting this blog I can help others who may need help or guidance in the areas I have knowledge of. Such as cooking, coming from an Italian family and having family restaurants growing up I have been fortunate to learn how to make gourmet meals for my family. When my daughter first started foods as an infant, my goal was to introduce her to only the best! Her diet consisted of home made baby foods made from scratch in my own kitchen. I can give my readers ideas on this and not only are you helping your child eat better, but it can also be very cost effective if you are on a budget.
After about 1 year of age my daughter was diagnosed with having food allergies. Until today my daughter cannot have certain foods and ingredients in her diet. I have educated myself with online tools and resources on what I can substitute those ingredients she CAN'T have for what she CAN have. This allowed me to know what she was eating and be able to keep consistent track of what the ingredients were in her foods. Going out to eat wasn't really an option and still isn't. May restaurants do not yet have allergy free menus or gluten free. Although a handful of some restaurants have begun doing so, which just tells me how rapid allergies have been growing in our society.
Recently, we purchased a new home. We had been living in a 1100 square foot condo. I have found it to be overwhelming with the decorating and cleaning and what not. Now that I seem to have it under control and the anxiety has subsided and have been able to enjoy the decorating aspect of my new home. One of my favorite things to do it bringing colors together and I taught myself how to make window treatments at very affordable prices and you cannot believe how easy it can be. I have made gorgeous custom made window treatments for $75 compared to the hundreds of dollars you could spend having a decorator do it for you. Today, many friends and family have asked me for advise or asked that I make window treatments for them. I love to be creative when I can and have even gone to the extreme of making home made activities for my daughter to enjoy. Activities that not only is fun, but also educational.
My background prior to staying home with my daughter was the medical field. I worked and also managed in primary care settings. Learning many areas of basic illnesses that we all go through and how to cope with the illness, for yourself and loved one.
A few years back I worked for a physician that was a director for a methadone clinic and worked closely with drug and alcohol patients. Learning what to look for when suspecting abuse and also having to deal with a real life experience in my family. Knowing the heart break that you feel and also being in denial until it's to late and your loved one hits rock bottom. I am not a physician or therapist, but someone with hands on experience and in my experience I found information helpful from those who have been through what I have been through first hand rather than someone who read how to cope from a book. This isn't putting physicians and educators down but sometimes if the experience hasn't been taught by real life experiences then it cannot be helpful. Our world is crazy and the fact that drugs could be given and sold right outside our door is scary. Especially, if you have children whom you know will be going to school one day and dealing with peer pressure and the tough life children deal with these days. I had children as young as 12 in my office with addiction to oxycontin. WHAT? You say, it's true, where do they even get the money to buy them. You would be amazed at what some do to get their high on.
Anyways, I am hoping that my knowledge in some of these life experience will help others out there. Wether it be things related to marriage, motherhood, life in general I would love to help in any which way I can.
