For the past 50 years the cryptic pro has been a

cryptic crossword puzzle addict.

During all that time he has learned a trick or two

"I believe it is the greatest pastime ever."

When he wasn't doing cryptic crosswords John Stewart worked as a welder/fitter for more than 30 years building integral steel products and components for some of the world's largest hydro-electric projects as well as fabricating intricate weldments for paper machinery, rolling mills, rail cars and mining machinery.

He developed many procedures and skills which can only come from trial and error. He has spent the last 25 years writing about his skills and doing consulting work and sharing his experiences with welding engineers around the world.

Another activity that served well was his role as a world correspondant for international news magazines.

For over 30 years John Stewart has operated a Media Services and Newspaper Clipping agency and is a world correspondant for a large clientelle of international trade magazines and technical publications.He doesn't count the hours he spends each day sitting in front of the computer scouring the internet for worthy news items for his long standing clientele.

Crypticpro has three grandchildren: Sabrina 9 years who lives in Maryland with her parents, Sheldon and Ashton 6 years and 4 years respectively who were born and still live in Montreal. "Ashton is the little guy with me in the picture."

These three kids are beautiful, intelligent and lovable and of course very spoiled.

Cryptic pro is getting on in years but shame on him, he doesn’t act his age.

He loves bowling and participates several times per week giving the young guns a good run for their money.

He bowls an average of 207 plying the duckpin variety.

In the summer months he plays golf several times a week in a foursome that includes his wife Theresa and two lifelong friends Dennis and Francis Calcutt.

This year marks 50 years of wedded bliss for the crypticpro and Theresa.

Crypticpro can still drive that little golf ball over 200 yards and plays mostly in the nineties which is not so bad considering the advancing age.

While winters are extremely cold in Canada and golf courses covered for six months with snow Crypticpro has discovered indoor cyber golf which is just as physical and challenging as outdoor golf and an excellent alternative.

In all life is pretty good and fulfilling.
