I've always wanted to be a writer. Always. However, I didn't always believe it was realistic, or even possible, to get to do so. In the sixth grade, when we had to interview an adult in the career field we wanted to enter, I asked to interview a writer, and they assigned me to...the school librarian. Something about that experience led me to believe that writing was one of those careers people only dreamed about, but never actually go to do.
Now, decades later, I'm thrilled to report that I didn't give up. I majored in English, with an emphasis in writing, when the safer emphasis was teaching, because that's what I really wanted to do. I'm blessed to be able to stay home with my three children and homeschool them while I work as an independent contract writer for a local publisher. I love what I do, and I love that I'm able to give my children the gift of time every day.
Finding Hubpages has been wonderful, because I get to use my passion for writing to share with people from all over the world about some of my other passions: homeschooling, Christian living, improving on parenting skills, staying on a budget, and cooking delicious food for my family that also happens to be refined flour and sugar free.
I look forward to journeying through life with other hubbers whose experiences mirror, reflect, and complement mine. I know we will learn a lot from each other and become better people for it.
I've also started writing for examiner.com and am starting a new blog: Life, Unrefined. Check it out at www.unrefinedfamily.blogspot.com!
