Running a business isn’t easy. If it was, everyone would be successful. It’s my belief that the reason so many businesses fail is because too many people dream their business will become an overnight success and they don’t have the resources to hang on long enough. It takes time and consistency to become successful. Many of these business owners look for shortcuts and the truth is I’ve only found one shortcut to success and that’s learning from others who’ve been there before you.
Some people are surprised to learn in my 18 year entrepreneurship journey, I have failed A LOT! I've built businesses that were successful and then lost them.I've built business partnerships that failed and teams that crumbled away. During this time my failures weren’t just limited to business. My family didn’t last and I ended up divorced. Thankfully, I failed forward. I decided to go to therapy and work on myself. That ended up being one of the best things I have ever done.
Through this journey, I have learned that nothing is more important to me than my family and that I have the ability to persevere through almost anything. It was these revelations that provided me with the perspective to win.
The experience of devoting my life to my business and grinding it out for years just to lose it all AND my family was tough. However, that experience laid down the groundwork that got me to where I am today. The greatest lesson I learned during this difficult time was that in order to build anything great I had to rebuild myself first.
It’s only after 5 years of therapy, personal growth and development that I can take pride in what I’ve built. Through this process I became a better father, husband, business owner and leader.
I now know HOW to truly win! I know that in order to have a happy marriage and home life it requires commitment and work and it’s not always easy. In my professional life, I know how to build 6, 7 and 8 figure businesses, but more importantly I’ve learned how to run those businesses successfully at the same time.
I am lucky that I have two families. I have my family at home and my family at work. I've built an amazing family with my beautiful wife and with my work family I've built some kick ass businesses, but it takes effort.
This life now is a long way from where I grew up in a messed up upbringing. Just like a lot of kids who are raised in that environment I was constantly in trouble at school and with the law. I even ended up a high school dropout and a father at 17 years old. If I can do it you can do it. I don't care where you come from. I care about where you want to go in your life. Anyone can win with the right tools!
If you will surround yourself with the right people in your life, if you will build the right mindset and if you will develop the right habits, you can start to live a life by design.
It was mastering sales, networking, team building, leadership, marketing, systems and financial habits that I discovered are key to my professional success. You can’t neglect any of them. They are all vital if you want to be successful in any business and you will need to tighten up all of them in order to level up.
I am grateful that I am now at a phase in my life where I am able to focus on my legacy. I am in a place that through sharing my experiences and knowledge I can help others.
