Erika Mackinnon has built a meaningful and evolving career in medical sales over the past five years. She has established herself as a capable and results-driven professional with a background in business development, strategy, revenue growth, market research, sales forecasting, product presentations, account oversight, and client relationship management. Since 2020, she has worked in the medical device industry, specializing in Spine. As a Spine Specialist and Sales Associate, she supports operating room procedures daily, providing insights and guidance on spinal devices and techniques.
Her journey into medical sales began after completing a demanding 440-hour postgraduate course at Medical Sales College in Sarasota, Florida. This program led to her Spine, Orthopedic Reconstruction, and Trauma certification. Through this training, Erika gained experience in regenerative medicine, consultative selling, orthopedic and spine devices, and strategies for business development and territory expansion.
Mackinnon also developed a thorough understanding of spine-related procedures and products, biologics, trauma systems, orthopedic reconstruction, and sports medicine. In addition to technical knowledge, she developed communication skills for engaging diverse medical professionals. She learned anatomy, physiology, pathology, biomechanics, orthobiologics, and medical terminology. She became familiar with operating room environments and hospital systems, allowing her to align product offerings with surgical needs and clinical protocols.
While completing her training, she began her role as a Sales Associate at SS Fusion Medica in Tampa, Florida. Her responsibilities included supporting territories, scheduling meetings with physicians and staff, and developing working relationships across clinical and administrative teams.
After a year, Erika joined Globus Medical in Memphis, Tennessee, where she has remained for four years. In this role, she has contributed to sales growth, expanded market presence, and built strong client partnerships. She assists in various surgical procedures, including ACDF, PCF, TLIF, PLIF, ALIF, lateral lumbar fusion, and deformity-related operations.
Mackinnon earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Florida State University in 2016. Her early career began in public service as a Chief Legislative Intern in the Florida Senate, where she prepared legislative briefings, monitored policy activity, and met with various advocacy groups. She later worked as a junior lobbyist and fundraiser.
Her background includes time as a Business Development Analyst at GSSP in Stamford, Connecticut, where she supported policy analysis, strategic planning, and transaction coordination. Erika went on to serve as Deputy Finance Director at The O’Rourke Group, where she managed donor outreach, secured funding, and built networks to support political and nonprofit efforts.
Mackinnon holds multiple certifications, including AdvaMed Code of Ethics, HIPAA, Aseptic Technique and Infection Control, Bloodborne Pathogens, Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, National Patient Safety, and Protocol Certification.
Outside her professional life, Erika has a strong interest in interior design. After purchasing her home, she redesigned it by combining vintage pieces with modern and traditional elements. She enjoys shopping for antiques and transforming old items into refreshed, functional decor. Though still a personal pursuit, she is open to further developing it.
As a mother of two, Mackinnon enjoys cooking and often creates tasteful and visually appealing meals. Time in the kitchen has become a creative outlet and a way to connect with family.
Erika also supports charitable organizations such as the Salvation Army and the Humane Society, which are driven by a commitment to giving back and helping others.
Erika Mackinnon continues to grow her career while dedicating time to her creative interests, family, and meaningful causes.
