I'm a folk philosopher, freelance writer, and lifelong gadfly. I have spent most of my 53 years pondering the great questions, such as the meaning of life (if any), the nature of good and evil, and the existence or non-existecne of God.
My personal journey has taken me from the Evangelical Christianity of my youth to a sort of spiritual free-agent status. I see wisdom in far too many placss to limit myself to a single tradition. I draw insights from Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Christianity, philosophy, literature, science, and art - not to mention the world itself.
This blog is a mishmash of the thoughts and ideas I have collected and refined over the years. Think of it as a resource for non-conforming, freethinking, spiritual-but-not-religious people. Perhaps together we can finds the answers which all of us seek. I welcome you aboard as we make the journey together.
More about me:
I live in Asheville, NC, long regarded as the "San Francisco of the Soyth," and with good reason. Asheville celebrates weirdness of all kinds.
My wife is a camera-shy public educator. We have 5 dogs, 4 cats, and a pet mouse.
I studied philosophy and religion in college, which prepared me for absolutely nothing of a practical nature. So I skilled up in my 40s and now work from home as a digital content creator/SEO specialist.
My favorite novel is "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn."
I like chocolate.
I'm not a fan of wine.
I use no tobacco products.
I'm in remarkably good health for a man of my age.
I do a lot of walking, in the woods whenever possible.
My favorite film is "The Godfather."

The pro-choice vs. pro-life debate is over; the pro-choice side won. We need to find ways to prevent abortions that have nothing to do with screaming matches or the Supreme Court.

I spent 40 years of my life trying to find Christ in Christianity. It was only after embracing Buddhism that I began to see Jesus as he truly is, free of the theological blinders imposed by my lifelong religious misconceptions.
