I am a baker and confectioner, with many years experience of working in craft and in-store bakeries. I served an apprenticeship in an old-style bakery in Dundee, and also studied at college for two years, for the City & Guilds bakery qualifications. The recipes I post here are tried and tested and should produce excellent results!
I also enjoy writing, and have published a couple of books and articles on eighteenth century British history. I enjoy politics, current affairs, economics, hill-walking, chess, and golf. I also enjoy music. I was a punk in the later 70s and early 80s and still enjoy a lot of that music though with age, my interests have broadened. I now enjoy jazz, classical, all sorts of things. Some of that eclecticism came from living in London for eighteen years but now I'm happy here living back home in Dundee: a better quality of life I feel, though not as much money. There is more to life than money though. Was it Socrates who said 'contentment is the riches of nature'. I guess, in our different ways, that is what we are all striving for.
