Hi! My name is Walt and I am 63 yrs. old. and have been playing guitar for the past 50 yrs. I am a tube amp collector and all around gear head. For the past 8-years I've been dedicated to acoustic fingerstyle guitar. I play a Taylor 214ce with a 1 3/4" nut width. How is it possibe that a guitar listed as having a 1 11/16" nut width has the extra 1/16" on this particular guitar? I traded a high-end Breedlove Cascade J-25Cre for it. My ears and fingers made me do it. Bob Taylor really has something here. I also own a Alvarez Yairi JY-84 with an L.R. Baggs M-1A sound hole pickup that I consider a work of art by the famous Japanese luthier, Kazuo Yairi. I'm a die-hard Tommy Emmanuel fan and play some of his music which I find challenging but rewarding. I'm a Blackberry Smoke fan and think musicianship defines them. I love Southern Rock! I have 2-electrics, a '99 Gibson Les Paul Studio with TonePros bridge and factory Grovers and Ibanez RG-2570Z with the ZR trem. The ZR trem is an underrated engineering marvel and the best rendition of the classic Floyd Rose trem. I used to have a healthy collection of vintage amps but now only three remain; a Carvin XV-112E(A stadium rig), a Fender Super Champ XD and my boutique Jive Bomber-20 signed by Joe Bonamassa. I was disappointed Joe declined playing through the amp which sports a pair of ECL-86 tubes that produce a distinctive chime. The converted Bogen CHB 20-A "Jive Bomber-20" was modded by Mike Sabatini of MGS Sound Technology in Oregon and constructed as a combo complete with 1959 Magnavox P-15 speaker by David Bendix of Yreka, California. I am also an avid E-bayer buying and selling guitars, amps, vacuum tubes and pedals. I am a member of TDPRI, the Telecaster Forum, My Les Paul forum, Jemsite forum and Harmony Central and Ultimate Guitar forums and reviews. If you have a gear related question please let me know. If I don't have the answer I'll find it for you. If I find a guitar or amp deal on E-bay I'll post it.
I am a member of the Wednesday Night Writer's Group here in Youngstown, Ohio and a playwright. I write plays mostly for my own amusement and outlet. Most are shorts but every 3-5 years I write a full length 90-minute play for which I host a reading. The most recent is titled, Proletariat, a political play that is set in the current time. I have named the style in which I write, New Age Colloquialism which reflects the common speech. It isn't family fare. ~
