The first time I was ever introduced to writting I was eleven years old. My dad asked my sister and I to both write a poem to enter in a contest for Reader's Digest. To my surprise my poem won! I couldnt believe it!
My dad was very strict on us, we had only one t.v. in the house & were only allowed to watch one hour of t.v. a day! He wanted us to read instead. I got to the point where I was reading a paperback book in two days! I read so many books. A few of my favorites were The BFG, The Island of the Blue Dolphins, & The Boxcar Children. I learned to love reading. It took me away to another place.
I still remember the first time I saw a book with the gold Nobel Prize emblem. I ran my fingers across it, and made a small wish that one day, I would write a book that would have a gold emblem. Such a dreamer!
I didn't really start writting until I was sixteen years old. I wrote my first book, "The Ghost of a Dove." It seemed like a dream that would never happen, that one day, I would publish my book. It's a collection of poetry. Dedicated to the stages of love, loss, transformation, healing, & last but not least self love. It's currently published on lulu.com. I have a few other projects to publish in the near future.
To me, writting is such an important outlet. It's a place where you can be yourself. No one can interupt you with judgements, until you are finished. It's also rewarding to know that you have the chance to impact someone.
I currently reside in Minnesota. Wondering why, but it's my home! Winter's are cold, but it's the gorgeous springs, captivating summers, & amazingly beautiful falls that tug my heart. Not to mention all the lakes allow for the air to be so crisp & clean...it's impossible to live anywhere else being satified with air quality.
I enjoy spending time with my family, art, painting, writting, graphic design, (I'm nerdy) cooking, being a mom, talking with friends, beer, & anything except math! I will be covering a variety of interests. I love & embrace change & new beginnings.
Thank you so much for viewing my hub!!!
