Hi everyone and welcome to my page! My name is Jamie McGee and I am a 22 year old resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana. I played football and soccer in high school and achieved success in both sports. I broke 14 school records as a place kicker in football, I was named class 5A 1st all state my senior year, I landed 3 top 10 records in the national high school football record book, and I was also a 2nd team all district goal keeper in soccer. After high school, I went on to play college football at the University of Arkansas at Monticello where I broke multiple school records and a couple of conference records. As a freshman, I was named 1st team all conference, 2nd team all region, freshman of the year in the region and conference, 3rd team All-America, and MVP of my team. Now, you may be thinking "why is he sharing this with us?”. Well, here’s the catch. I was diagnosed with Tourettes Syndrome at the age of 7 and I dealt with it through all of those accolades. The point of me sharing this with you is to inform you that goals are very achievable no matter the circumstances. Cliche, right? Yet still very effective when followed up with a story to prove to you that it is true. I didn't share my accomplishments to brag, I shared them to inspire. As I mentioned earlier in this post, I was a goalkeeper in high school. Growing up, I had an idol who I admired simply because we shared two things in common; he has Tourettes and he is a goalkeeper. You may know of him, his name is Tim Howard. He is currently the starting goalkeeper for the United States Men’s soccer team and is arguably one of the best keepers in US history. He lead by example and taught me to never let this disorder stop me from achieving greatness. I plan on following this example in hopes to one day change lives through education the way that my idol changed mine. I will be sharing more about my journey and what life with Tourette Syndrome is like. I hope you choose to subscribe and share this with others. If you have any questions or comments that you'd like to share, please do not hesitate to send me and email or leave a comment on my page!
