Jason Barakat has worked for over 25 years as a financial services leader, entrepreneur, visionary, and philanthropist. His career has extended across financial, insurance, legal, and nonprofit sectors, and he has earned recognition for guiding organizations through change while helping communities access better opportunities. His journey illustrates how leadership and service can create meaningful impact.
A strong focus of Jason’s career has been developing talent and building strategic partnerships. Over time, he has overseen over a thousand advisors and 60 leaders across Canada. At the same time, he helped form over 200 business partnerships with associations, groups, and government institutions. Each relationship was created with the same purpose: delivering specialized, value-driven financial services to people and organizations that need them.
Ghassan's approach brings together leadership, innovation, and purpose. He has dedicated much of his work to recruiting and mentoring professionals, offering them meaningful careers in financial services. Many of those he supported have become leaders themselves. His achievements in this area have been recognized with awards for financial excellence, reaching ambitious goals, and guiding operations toward profitability and efficiency. These accomplishments result from his vision, discipline, and the collective effort of the teams he has led.
Throughout his career, Ghassan Barakat has desired to keep learning, improving, and reinventing. His work has progressed through consulting, solution creation, the integration of performance philanthropy, and the leadership of acquisitions. His efforts have been directed toward making legal-financial services a common good that is widely accessible. His guiding principles—equity, the creation of both economic and social value, democratization of financial opportunity, and the belief that financial knowledge and legal protection should be open to all—remain central to his mission.
Jason has developed the ability to bridge finance, law, technology, and philanthropy. Whether leading the growth of multi-million-dollar platforms, building startups, or advancing charitable projects, he has always focused on designing sustainable systems that serve people’s needs over time.
In 2022, Ghassan became the Founder & CEO of Nolos Cabinet Multidisciplinaire Inc., a Canadian company that combines FinTech, InsurTech, and LegalTech on one platform. Nolos aims to democratize access to financial and legal services for middle-class families. The platform includes a Quebec-based legal firm, a notarial study, and a national financial MGA offering protection and wealth products from Canada’s top financial institutions. Under his leadership, Nolos has expanded through acquisitions and partnerships. In 2022, he acquired Skylegal, a legaltech company based in Quebec. In 2023, he launched a charitable foundation that supports families during estate and legacy planning by increasing access to justice and financial protection. More recently, Jason acquired a technology company that develops software for public and private organizations, strengthening the B2B side of the Nolos platform.
Before founding Nolos, Jason Barakat was a Strategic Senior Consultant, working with Chubb Insurance and other major organizations. From 2003 to 2021, he was President and Principal Officer with AMF of La Capitale Services Conseils, where he grew assets under management from $300 million to over $3 billion and developed services for Quebec’s public sector employees. In 2017, he became President of La Capitale Financial Security, leading the company’s national operations for disability and personal finance solutions. During this time, he redesigned compensation structures, improved inclusion, and emphasized advisory excellence. He also served as President at SSQ Financial Group Distribution, where he modernized retirement financial planning, supported merger integration, and improved profitability, compliance, and client service.
Philanthropy has been a consistent part of Jason’s life. For more than twenty years, he has participated in initiatives such as the Guignolet de Saint-Vincent de Paul and supported causes that benefit public institutions. In 2021, he partnered with Peartree Canada to help families and organizations strengthen their social impact through philanthropic planning. Later, he created the Nolos Foundation to advance access to Justice and family Legacy Planning. He is also a volunteer leader on nonprofit boards and contributes to interfaith humanitarian projects.
Ghassan studied at Concordia University, John Molson School of Business, focusing on finance, business law, and later theology. His education also includes studies in securities, investments, estate planning, insurance, venture capital, and strategic philanthropy, with certifications in these fields.
Outside of his professional life, Ghassan Barakat is a husband and father of two. His family inspires and strengthens his values of love, faith, and responsibility, which guide his personal and professional commitments. Through service, humility, and dedication, Jason continues to work toward leaving a legacy for his children, his community, and future generations.
