My name is Jennifer, and I am an American living in China. I was born in Springfield, Illinois, and have a B.A. in Chinese language and culture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I first came to China in 2001 as part of a study abroad program. I began living full-time in China in 2003. As you can imagine, after such a long time here, I have quite a resume! I have been a university professor and teacher-trainer, a production assistant for a documentary film company, a translator, a pub manager, and a night club singer! My main areas of expertise include Mandarin Chinese, Chinese Culture and the Chinese Education System, Language-learning, Cultural Exchange, Travel in China and Southwest Asia, and the Culture of Yunnan Province. However, I have many other interests, such as herbology/ natural remedies, art, music, Wicca/ witchcraft, movies and television, books, pets, games, and cooking. I hope to share my "outsider's" perspective on China as well as some of my other interests here at Hub Pages! I look forward to hearing from all of my readers in the future!
