Throughout our 72+ years of marriage my husband Lowell periodically surprised me. This article contains pleasant memories of these special gifts and/or events. Since his passing in 2021 I have been reminiscing about our life together and how very thoughtful he really was.
The sound roaring through our 4th floor apartment at the Embers in Marshalltown, Iowa was like a jet engine, but it actually was a tornado coming directly at our building on July 19, 2018. Debris of all types began to hit our windows. My husband and I decided we should be heading for the bathroom.

For over 30 years I have been solving the Jumble Puzzle in our local newspaper. At first I could unscramble the words, but the cartoon puzzle was my bug-a-boo. Now I am getting pretty good at solving both.
For someone so young, Shawn Johnson's perspective of life is overwhelming, just like her gymnastics. Shawn's favorite competition was the balance beam, and her life mirrors that balance. Her family and her coach have kept her "on beam" through some extremely rewarding, but trying times.
What a long description!! Please excuse my wordiness, but there seemed to be no other way to completely describe this process. I didn't want to leave out any steps for those who were willing to try to make this fun game board.
