John Dewar Gleissner graduated from Auburn University with a psychology degree, then Vanderbilt Law School in 1977 & started practicing law in Birmingham. After visiting the Tennessee State Prison a few times as part of a student program and then studying antebellum American history much later in life, he discovered that modern America's massive prison regime is in ways a huge step backwards in terms of criminal justice, liberty, economics, human development and race relations.

The Opioid Crisis was met by the enabling of opioid addicts in terms of the number of overdose rescues they receive at public expense. Naloxone helps to revive addicts, but it also enables more drug abuse. We need to draw a line.

Police shootings of arrestees would drop markedly if arrestees did not resist arrest.
