John Lennox Cummings, who goes by Lennox, graduated summa cum laude from the College of Charleston Beatty School of Business with a GPA of 3.95. He was selected for the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, an honor given to the top 10% of seniors, and was also a Merit Scholar. He earned a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Spanish. His fluency in Spanish was helpful during his travels to Spain and Mexico and proved valuable in his professional interactions with coworkers.
In addition to his academic achievements, he gained real-world experience through multiple internships and part-time roles. He consistently balanced his studies with work, showing discipline, time management, and dedication. By the age of 22, he had already established a strong professional foundation through a variety of positions that developed both his technical and interpersonal skills.
Lennox Cummings interned as a Tax/Accounting Intern at a Charleston-based advisory firm, where he became proficient in financial planning tools, including QuickBooks and Intuit Tax. He prepared and filed tax returns for 17 C corporations, achieving an average turnaround of 13 days, and for over 200 families, with a 5-day average turnaround. His performance contributed to a 100% client retention rate with no audits required.
Before that, he worked as a Finance and Client Relations Intern at a Charleston financial firm that shares his last name, though there is no family relation. He supported 137 client relationships and contributed to economic assumptions and internal fee audits involving more than $400 million in assets under management.
Cummings is also a certified Public Notary in the state of South Carolina. At a real estate company, he worked as an Inside Sales Intern, using Sierra Interactive to identify potential buyers and sellers, making 250 calls per day and maintaining a 7% lead qualification rate.
In the summer of 2023, he joined a well-known outdoor brand as a Store Experience Guide, consistently exceeding daily sales goals of $15,000 during peak seasons. He also worked as a Server Assistant at a Charleston seafood restaurant. He served as District Manager for a landscaping company in North Carolina, managing finances for over 60 properties across three counties. His first job was as a cashier at age 16 in Asheville, where he also contributed to digital and social media marketing efforts.
John Lennox attended Christ School, an all-boys boarding school in Asheville, where he was a Headmaster Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. He volunteered with his local church, helping to feed and house the homeless through monthly programs. He also worked with Habitat for Humanity to build affordable homes and served as a tutor for students with special needs in his community.
After Hurricane Helene affected Asheville and its surrounding areas, he contributed to relief efforts by donating to a local nonprofit and helping his sister sell regional-themed stickers to raise funds. This initiative reflected his commitment to service and his willingness to take action during times of need.
In his spare time, Cummings enjoys fly fishing, including a summer spent fishing in Montana's Rocky Mountains. He also enjoys boating, discovering music, and attending concerts. Growing up in Asheville, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, shaped his appreciation for nature and outdoor activities.
John Lennox Cummings has shown dedication, consistency, and a strong sense of purpose through his academic, professional, and volunteer experiences, building a well-rounded path forward.
