I am a postman by trade and a wildlife enthusiast in my spare time.
I am following an ambition to observe and record every known living species in the UK (perhaps there is even the odd creature out there somewhere, lurking in the undergrowth, waiting to be discovered?) I am learning to identify everything I see and making good progress but there has been much head-scratching. Some species initially appear so identical it is hard to set them apart. Others will fly or scurry away before I can get a good look at them. A great deal of time and patience is required. The learning curve goes ever upward.
When not out exploring the countryside, I review films. I have always loved watching films so it seemed entirely natural to want to write about them. I used to sit in the dark for hours on end, watching as many films as humanly possible – eyes glued to the screen, scribbling so furiously it was a struggle to decipher anything afterwards. Mostly the piles of notebooks I filled were filed away to gather dust but some were published in a student magazine. Occasionally, they even made sense.
There is always room for improvement. I have joined hubpages to learn, to share the knowledge I have acquired and to cast a net wide over an infinite variety of subjects, picking whatever tickles my fancy along the way. The adventure begins here.
