I have earned a living in a variety of ways; probably too many ways if I'm honest. A goodly amount of time has been spent in military aviation technical branches, in fields related to navigation; first during military service and later with civilian Aeronautical Engineers. I have worked as: a Technical Author, Field Service Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, Oil Depot Manager and a number of other thing that would not look too good on a C.V.
I have learned one important thing along the way, quite apart from all the technical stuff, and that is self reliance; and a belief in it. To be as independent as you can; not in an extreme way like: how to survive in the Gobi Desert with just a piece of string and a magnifying glass; but in those everyday things that make life for you and yours sustainable and less expensive in spite of: reducing resources, rising taxes, falling salaries and changing times.
I also have an interest in politics and its' ever more perverse tendency and adverse consequences. It is this modern political climate that makes self reliance more relevant and necessary than ever it was. In fact I see trouble ahead. Indeed it is this very thing that has motivated me to embark upon my latest project. A project that will bring to fruition at last, an idea I had many years ago when I struggled to pay my electricity bill. I was living off base in a small flat over the village paper shop. All I wanted was hot water. What I got was an overdraft. It was cheaper to run my car, which was not too easy on the the fuel; than it was to take a bath.
