This is a poem I wrote a couple days after becoming sober. I craved the drug so bad, but my will to truly live, and break free of other people's expectations, was stronger than the cravings.

Drugs, they seem so easy to walk away from. Most people have never been terrorized by a substance. They don't understand the need, self- loathing, the moment the drug hits & nothing matters. I do. It's a daily struggle to stay clean. These were written before I found the strength to stop.
