My writing and audio/visual background is extensive, including newspaper editing and reporting, criminal justice investigation and reporting, policy position papers, and social services background documentation. I have also written short stories, poetry and a critically acclaimed book on my experiences as a stepfather.
As a background for my articles on dogs, I have owned a range of breeds and types, including Newfoundlands, Siberian Huskies, Cocker Spaniels, Pugs, Chihuahuas and Mutts. My experience demonstrates that breed type does not foretell intelligence -- among all the dogs I've owned, the smartest and dumbest were both Newfoundlands.
In addition to dogs, I love outdoor activity, powerlifting, boxing, painting, writing and family life. Now that I'm semi-retired (working as an Enrolled Agent tax preparer January throught April), I have more time to indulge in these favorite activities. In addition to my writing for HubPages, I have established a personal history writing business at lovingheritage.com.
