Mario Payne is a U.S. Army veteran, Certified Financial Planner, and the founder of TOAMS Financial, an independent advisory firm based in Jacksonville, Florida. With over 15 years of experience, he has focused on helping clients strengthen their financial futures, build wealth, and reduce financial stress. Mario J. Payne was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. After completing high school, he attended Tennessee State University, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. Later, he continued his education by earning a degree in financial planning from the College for Financial Planning. His dedication to his field led him to achieve the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and the Accredited Asset Management Specialist designation. He is among a small percentage of licensed African American advisors with these credentials who hold the CFP® certification.
Mario joined the United States Army during college and served as a Financial Sergeant during Operation Enduring Freedom. In this position, he assisted soldiers in managing their pay, making informed financial decisions, and planning for their futures under demanding conditions.
His early career in financial services began at American Income Life Insurance Company, where he gained experience explaining financial topics to working families. He then joined Edward Jones, where he assisted retirees, families, and business owners in developing strategies to secure their financial futures. These roles helped him refine his approach to delivering personalized financial guidance.
In 2013, Payne established TOAMS Financial, “Tithes Offering Alms Means Stewardship.” From its base in Jacksonville, the firm provides services to clients across the United States and internationally. Under his leadership, TOAMS became one of the few African-American-owned SEC-registered investment advisory firms.
Mario launched Payneful Profits, a YouTube channel that aims to help viewers understand economic trends, stock market movements, and strategic planning in a straightforward manner. His insights have also been shared in media outlets such as Forbes and Cheddar News.
He co-founded LETB, the first Black-owned, AI-backed Exchange-Traded Fund, supported by Let Bob, a tool designed to help retail investors make data-driven decisions. He also created The Relax Estate, an AI-based platform that simplifies estate planning by automating documents such as trusts, wills, and powers of attorney.
Payne is involved in community efforts through board roles with the Jacksonville Public Library, the Tennessee State University Foundation, and Knots 4 Kids, supporting literacy, scholarships, and youth mentorship. His work with House Wars helps improve communities by turning neglected properties into homes for families. Mario Payne has been recognized with the 100K Day Award and the 40 Acres Entrepreneur of the Year, reflecting his dedication to financial education, equity, and opportunity.
